A replacement for dolphin that can look just as pretty?
Moved to using KDE recently and it's everything I've ever wanted in aesthetics and customization. Unfortunately, dolphin doesn't refresh when files are moved around and while I tried to accept it, I just can't. Showing me where files are is literally the only job of a file manager.
Are there any other file managers that can take all the themes and colors in KDE? I love having a full theme but I can't stand this manual refresh thing.
Could somebody share a working Arr stack in docker with me?
If anyone else is having issues setting these up, message me and I will zip the whole build to you and walk you through setup.
UPDATE:
So I've made some major progress but still have a persistent issue. Radarr, sonarr, and lidarr are set to rename files, rename folders, and move them to the root directory. Even after importing the media the do not do that. I have both the boxes for renaming ticked, I have hard links turned off, they all have permissions for all the directories involved, and they have the media available in the program. If anyone knows how to fix this I'd love the help. I literally did all of this because I don't want to manually rename 1600 files into a consistent scheme and Radarr apparently doesn't want to either.
I used yams.media to do the full install. It was incredibly easy to use for most of the installation and setup. The Mullvad wireguard setup was a pain. The VPN part of yams specifically says to follow the instructions to the letter but the link it gives is a 404. The mullvad.md it was supposed to take me to was just "TLDR" and two code boxes with no explanation. I managed to bungle my way through with some knowledge from past attempts and the yams VPN test says I'm in Switzerland and my client is ready to go.
Yams wouldn't let me set the directories I needed (it wants one directory for everything and I'm sorting them into different mounted drives) but it was actually remarkably easy to copy the yams config folders into my preferred directory and the yaml file directly into portainer to create a portainer stack running everything I needed. I even learned how to use the env and "advanced env input" in portainer to correct all the variable sections instead of writing all of them myself. All in all, it was exactly what I was wanting to do when I posted the TLDR.
Tl;dr: I understand docker is supposed to help get things running on different systems easily, can someone give me a copy of their working Arr stack?
Frustrated venting I'm past being new to this server thing having run mine for over a year so I guess I can officially say I'm just bad at it. I've been working on getting Sonarr, Radarr, and, lidarr running since 4 in the afternoon, discounting dinner that's 6 hours of constantly failing to get these to work. This is my 5th time trying since I learned about it in April.
I've given up on the automatic downloads, I've given up on the request system, I'm even done with the torrenting, I'll just do that on my phone. All I want is something that format my 5TB of media to Title (date) instead of MOVIE_TITLE_ALL_UNDERSCORE, or TB_1000, or movie.videoformat.year.special.deluxe.username.host.visit.my.site.please. I was sold on this idea that self hosting was a relatively easy thing that anyone can get into and while I have a good understanding of how a config.yml is supposed to look and work, and I've got a decent understanding of ssh and sftp between two computers, but trying to grt any one of these things to run is soul crushing. I literally work in the foster system and my worst cases do not give me the stress this does. I just want to get it fixed so I can watch Pokemon with my family and offer it to people who will never bother to log on.
Edit: OMFG I moved them back into individual folders and they work now. 6 hours of videos and tutorials and not a single thing saying they absolutely have to be in their own folders or it won't work. edit unclear, brain stuck in toaster
Edit 2: turns out, Radarr can't find movies at /movies/movie.mkv and needs /movies/folder/movie.mkv. Now Radarr can import movies but all other problems persist.
Why does no one talk about Xboxforgod?
I'm modding a 360 and as a strictly Linux user I've spent the last 4 hours of my night trying to get Iso2god running with no success. About 15 videos, 6 Reddit threads, 2 complete reads of the Xbox 360 section of consolemods.org, and it's the stupid AI agent on DuckDuckGo that says "install xboxforgod with snap"! I assumed it was hallucinating but no, it's actually there and it worked right out of the box! Even did the OG Xbox isos too!
Why on Games on Demand's green earth is this not on the wiki?!
Lore Theory, Hivestones and Slivers
Long story short, I was reading over sliver lore on the wiki and made a connection that I thought I'd share.
As per the wiki, the planar origin of slivers as a species was an unnamed plane where an unknown sentient species built their empires by using slivers as beasts of burden. This ended when the Sliver GraveMother evolved to conquer death and the result was a cataclysmic night where sivers overran the population and killed anything that wasnt a sliver on the whole plane.
Long after this, Volrath would visit the plane and take a liking to the species. He'd capture the queen and some of the babies and bring them back to Rath for him to experiment and keep under the Stonghold. The Weatherlight stuff happens, the Rathy overlay happens, and all the slivers end up in the volcano in Urborg which kills the queen and the rest die during invasion.
They're later revived without the queen by the Riptide Project in a bigger blunder than Jurassic Park where they immediately escape the labs and consume everything on the island. By the time of Time Spiral they're an unbridled disaster for everything as without the queen to lead them they are just feral beasts driven to eat and reproduce. This is where Hivestone see print.
"Creatures you control are Slivers in addition to their other creature types."
*"Rath's evincars used hivestones to control the slivers, but the overlay put their power into unwitting hands. Now the stones make not masters, but slaves." *
This is an amazing call back to the lore, and generally all the slivers with flavor text in this set are loaded with details.
Here's where things get interesting. During the events of the Weatherlight, Karn manages to get the Legacy artifacts by talking to the Sliver Queen and comparing his relationship to the artifacts to her relationship with her offspring. This implies that, on a very accessible level, the Sliver Queen is fully sapient and capable of reason, emotional intelligence, and empathy. Something that texts from after her death show is almost diametrically opposed to slivers without her.
Part 1, I believe that is what the Sliver Queen brings to the hive. A sapient, fully in control, intelligent and emotionally receptive mind. The single guiding consciousness of the hive. With her death, the slivers are nothing more than instinct driven animals. In the same way that each sliver grows wings or claws when a sliver of that type comes near, the presence of the Queen suplicates the personality if the hive mind across the population.
The flavor texts state that the Evincars used the stones to control the Hive. How better than tapping into it as a fellow sapient being and either talking with it or maybe demonstrating it psychically. What's the difference between when the Evincars of Rath used the Hivestone and now? It states right in the flavor text that the Hivestone was put into unwitting hands during the Overlay, the exact situation that killed the queen.
I propose that the Hivestones function as a direct psychic link to the hive mind, and the Evincars used it to communicate with the conscious mind provided by the queen. With her death, the Hivestone still connects to the Hive mind but now it's an unending echo chamber of base instinct and animalistic needs. Where before you could either communicate or maybe dominate a single mind or control, now you're engaging the entire swarm on a psychic level that they are naturally part of. It turns everything into slivers and enslaves their minds because anyone that uses it will get over run mentally in the same way they operate physically.
Lastly, I think the Hivestones are actually older than the stronghold nest. Volrath visited the home plane of the slivers, he likely saw the ruins of the civilization that they destroyed. What if the sliver stones are how they managed to domesticate them? The bit and bridal of a culture that tamed them. He could have used them so locate and transport the slivers back to Rath without a fight as opposed to somehow overpowering a sliver hive in combat. Now, eons after they were made and centuries after they were discovered, they no longer function as a tool for communication because the Hive has outgrown the power of those that could use them.
Experience with Drauger OS?
I've been running bazzite as my primary OS and while its pretty great for gaming but just about every other software is a bit of a pain to figure out. I recently heard about Drauger OS which is based on Ubuntu which I'm way better with. Does anyone have experience with Drauger? I'd like to hear about is before I do the full hop.
Notifications from the server?
Hey gang, recently rebuilt my home server using docker and portainer and I've been having a blast curating the different things on it. Homehub has the spouse absolutely stoked and she asked if I could get it to send notifications. I honestly have no Idea so I thought I'd ask here.
Is there a reliable way to send notifications from a home server to smart phones? I'm already set up for remote access, but I'm still new enough that I don't even know how to look for that.
Suggestions for an over-engineered water filter?
Local tap is dubious at best and leaded at worst so we fill 5gallon jugs at a filter station the next town over. I'm getting tired of transporting and paying for water, so I'd like to make a filter that won't just clog up with hard water in a week. Anyone have recommendations on where to start?
My turtle is lazy, what do I do about it?
So I have two turtles, a female eastern box turtle named Morticia and a male ornamental box turtle named Digger. Both are heathly weight, neither are exibiting signs of illness, and I custom built their enclosure to fit their range and environmental needs with the temp ranging from 70° to 80° f and humidity of between 70% and 90%. They have a pool that I refill, heat lamp, UVB lamp, variable terrain, rocks to climb, plants (for Digger to murder), spagnum moss, and gravel, coconut husk, and soil to dig in, as well as outside time when weather permits it. They have a regular diet of crickets, mega worms, vegetables, fruits, and occasionally cooked chicken bits and egg shell. All of this is to say, I've done my research and I'm pretty well versed on the care.
Digger is ADHD Incarnate. He runs laps, digs holes, fights rocks, murders every single plant that tries to grow, takes a warm bath and does it again. If I'm working on my computer he comes up to the air slots on the front of the tank and judges me for putting plants in his terf.
Morty sits. She has a spot equal distance from both lights with partial shade from a driftwood log and she will not move from that spot ever under any circumstances. If she's not sitting comfortably half shelled and watching the world around her, she's sleeping, splayed out like she's dead, head resting on the edge of the pool like a pillow. She will begrudging move to eat, but will take it back to her spot if. She does. I've checked, and there are no eggs under her. If you try to move her anywhere else she makes her way back to her spot. If you take her out of the enclosure she shells up until shes back in the enclosure, then goes back to her spot. She will only move with any level of urgency for Watermelon.
I have taken her to the vet about this and aside from stating that she's in good health, his only advice was to pick her up and move her so she has to walk back to her spot or put her food out of reach so she has to move towards it. It's so consistent that I'm worried about her health, it can't be good for anything to be that sedentary and Digger moving at the speed of sound just makes it look all the more concerning. The vet's only suggestion was putting her food further away or moving her around. What do I do about this?
Fennec on graphene wants me to install unified push. Should I?
Like the title says. Stated getting this notification every time I open fennec.
The push service application is no longer available. It may have been uninstalled. Please re-inable UnifiedPush.
Is this something I should do or is there a way to turn this off?
Found out you can sideload stuff onto roku, what do I put on it?
I have a few cheap Roku tvs, turns out they have developer mode and you can sideload stuff onto it. Unfortunately, DDG just gives me a bunch of guides on how to activate developer mode, each one ending with "go find it yourself on github" when it comes to what to actually put on it.
Anyone have experience doing this? Do you have suggestions for what to load on it? We only really use it for jellyfin at the moment but this feels like a fun little thing to play with.
Sftp client gor android?
Hey gang, do you have any suggestions for moving data from my phone to my jellyfin server? I tried using the daemon tools on F-Droid and could not for the life of me figure them out.
Deshittified printers?
The brother printer my spouse has had for ages is finally running out of ink and a quick chedk shows that they don't make cartridges for it anymore, you cant reset them, and you can only buy dubious 3rd party options on amazon for $150 each. For that kind of money id rathet find a printer that let's me put of the scam, but im not finding a lot of options there. Does anyone have advice?
Is there a perchance or perchance like image to image editor?
I want to turn a bunch of magic card art into a similar, cyberpunk style for a custom deck I'm making and so far I can't really find anything that will do it as well as perchance's image maker works
New to android ROMs and degoogling and I have questions.
Hey gang, I posted this in the relevant community but I figured it won't hurt to cast a larger net. I haven't done the custom ROM biz since around 2013 and I'm looking to degoogle my family on the cheap. I've spent the last 3 weeks getting dicked around by google pixels so if I can avoid those entirely I'd like to.
My plan is to go with CRDroid, curate the apps myself using mostly FOSS. Here's where I'm in need of an adult:
-
Oneplus 9 is in my price range and looks like it will last but I can only find it t-mobile locked. I can carrier unlock it myself, but will I be able to access the boot loader. I know I can't at all for Verizon, I wanna make sure i don't accidentally get trapped again.
-
I can't find many options outside of GrapheneOS, lineage, and crdroid, is that really the whole list? I like the options in crdroid but I'll take other suggestions.
-
I've been using Blu phones for ages, they don't come with any of the headache to get them unlocked and I've been using this one for nearly 8 years so I know they last. Is there a ROM that runs on Blu? I hate that all the compatible devices are name brand, high dollar, nonsense.
-
Are there any parental control apps that aren't just data harvesters? I want to give me kid a phone for emergencies, but he's 11 with ADHD that gives him the impulse control of a toddler surrounded by candy. It'd be safer for everyone if I didn't make is easy for him to repeat the mistakes I made at his age.
Any help whatsoever would be amazing, I've been coming apart at the seams over this for 3 weeks now and all I really want is to be able to take all the crap off my next phone and not wake up with new crap installed.

Is Dungeon Meshi worth it if I'm not into anime?
The last anime I actually really liked was Cowboy Bebop. I try getting into it off and on but I'm kind of put off by the common tropes. That said, my d&d characters for the past 20 years have been some variation of "that's an awful lot of hydra meat that's going to waste if I don't cook it" which I understand is the premise of the show.
Is it worth giving it a try? Am I going to have to sit through an unreasonable amount of jiggling tits?
