damn this was like old hulu days. remember streaming this on dial up. they always felt like a B type of show but that's what made it great.

I haven't thought of it in a while, but I think low budget was what maybe held it back? Hoping for good things...

Now you've got me questioning myself. Maybe? But Felicia Day is really smart and I think she could do this right...

In this economy? Seriously, who has money to throw at something like this?

The animated Firefly show has all their ducks in a row and know what they're doing, this seems sketchy.

Isnt that the upside of crowdfunding? If they meet their goal, it goes ahead, if they dont, everyone keeps their money.

Im not rich, but I can spare a few dollars to support creators I enjoy

After the success of Iron Lung, we're gonna see more independent movies done with little funding. Fans have money and are tired of Hollywood.

I'm not yucking anyone's yum, but I would like to know if there are still fans of this series. I didn't get it when it was new, and it seems less relevant now than 20ish years ago.

No, but not for lack of trying. I've played RuneScape, EverQuest, Wow (twice once when burning crusade came out and again when cataclysm dropped I'm a huge fan of Warcraft lore) , and a couple other smaller ones. It's not the subject matter that turned me away though. It was the perceived poor writing. One of the other cast members had a different show called Legends of Neal and I remember liking the comedy of that show much more.

That's not really relevant to my question though. I wanted to know if anyone was excited for the return. It seems like the iron is cooled.

People who were really addicted to those things still are. So yeah, I think there's an audience for a small movie.

I mean, I liked it enough to look forward to this? Idk if I even finished the whole show, but it was entertaining.

Im a big enough fan of Felicia to sign up, even though I never watched The Guild back in the day

I know her as a twitch streamer and co-founder of Geek & Sundry (who streamed Critical Role before it got big)

I was also never a big fan of G&S. The biggest thing I remember liking that she's in is Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog, but her character has basically nothing to do or say. Which is definitely not her fault, that's the Whedon's fault. I've just never seen anything she's been a part of that made me go 'wow'.

She was good in Supernatural and Eureka, but she wasn't a writer for those. She was a writer for 7 episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000, and while I've never seen it, I've only heard good things.

I don't know what episodes specifically she wrote for, but on the whole I wasn't a fan of the remake of MST3K. It felt like they were desperate to be funny, if that makes sense. Like that one insecure kid who would watch yt videos of comedians and try and force the jokes into conversation the next day.

Like I said I'm not judging or trying to drag it down. I'm genuinely trying to understand what people are looking for in a movie for the series. Is it mostly just nostalgia at this point or has there been a group simmering for years waiting for a resolution or something?

Don't feel like you have to respond. I'm not trying to put anyone on the spot. I'd just love to hear what the fans actually think beyond, 'yeah I exist'

4

I'm not a big fan or anything. I'm not even sure I even finish the show but when a fictionnal univers was nice, and it is the case, an extra story in it is nice. It doesn't need to pick up things where they were left, to start long narrative arc or close old ones. That's why a (well done) spin-off movie is nice and nicer than spin-off serie.

Lmao I was just watching this recently with my kid. Already watched Gamers too. Gotta introduce them to cultured classics 😂
