Getting to 420kg without dying doesn’t sound that easy. It’s over half an F1car! You aren’t gonna be leaving you reinforced bed without a lot of help for a much of the time.

2

You’re not really that weight though, the phone adds some. Sorry to have to inform you of this.

That reflection does not look like 123kg to me, how??

17

Well of course not, the reflection is weightless, its the person who has weight

24
piefed.ca

Unless you're made of solid muscle, you may want to do some self reflection because 120kg at 190cm is pretty well into the range of clinical obesity.

7

I look into a mirror all the time

Jokes aside, you're right, I should probably lose some weight. But it's really not as bad as you might think

I’m 1m85 and have been at 65kg most of my life. I’m closer to 70kg now. You’re almost double my weight.

We should try to find someone half my weight (30kg) and someone double yours (240kg) and we could hangout, maybe create a secret society or something.

6
programming.dev

That's almost 300lbs! The reflection rules out morbidly obese, so are you tall as fuck, jacked as fuck, or both?

15
lemmy.world

Probs just fat as fuck. I weighed myself a couple of months ago and saw 145kg and knew I gotta sort out my weight out. Im average height

Congrats, keep it up! I was 121 at my heaviest (many years ago), now at 95. Not perfect (180+ cm tall), but at least I found a weight I can maintain without an unreasonable daily effort

4

People have lost the plot on what is morbidly obese.

To most people obese is healthy and healthy is dangerously underweight.

7
lemmy.world

My dumb ass American mind assumed that scale was in pounds and I though the guy was a little person until I saw your comment

6

You don't have to be a little person to weigh 123lbs, just skinny. I'm average height and have always been super boney and the only way I've ever been able to gain weight was by working out. I weighed about 125ish almost my entire adult life, and only in the last couple of years as I became able to bike 100 miles a week did I squeak past 130

2
lemy.lol

The reflection absolutely does not rule out morbidly obese. It is by definition morbidly obese. The bmi scale does not care about muscle mass.

Yeah I know it's stupid. I'm also ridiculously categorized as morbidly obese. I'm quite a bit lighter than that though.

programming.dev

Yeah it's weird, I was just being lazy with wording, but now I want to defend BMI a little since it's not that stupid. (I meant to say he didn't look like the stereotypical image of a morbidly obese person, which in hindsight isn't very productive)

It's true that BMI is only useful for "normal" people, which excludes pro-athletes/body builders with a lot more muscle than the average person, and people with conditions that affect their weight. For the vast majority of people, it's a useful metric for overall health. Anyone who cares about longevity and quality of life shouldn't ignore it just because it's uncomfortable to think about or "seems wrong" based on some self assessments. Obviously, there's a lot of stigma around being labelled as obese, but people are judgy assholes about everything. What's basically guaranteed, though, is that if you do lose weight to reach a "healthy" BMI, you will feel a lot better physically (and probably also mentally). Pains you didn't even realize you had will go away, you'll have more energy, etc.

I'm not saying you should lose weight, idgaf. Your life isn't mine, and I'm not here to give unsolicited advice. I just feel compelled to add some extra context so people don't draw hasty conclusions.

I'm currently a little heavy, I'm not going to lie. But I haven't always been. And even when I was really thin all the following was still true. I'm I'm only 5'10" (1.78m for the rest of you). But I wear 2xl gloves. I wear a 3xl motorcycle helmet. I have siize 13.5 us feet (EU 48-49). Usually people have a wingspan pretty close to their height, sometimes a little less or a little more. But my wingspan is just over 6'5" (1.96 m) which is 7" or 18cm bigger than my height. My leg bones are way thicker than average, almost freakishly so. Even when I was in marathon running condition, and even at my medium height I could dunk a basketball, I was technically right on the edge of obese by BMI standards. I beat our schools presidential physical fitness record when I was 14. I could stack all of the plates on the leg press machine easily, our football team guys couldn't do it. BMI is a load of shit for some of us.

I'm 6'3" and was close to 300lb at one point, but since I had a decent amount of muscle before getting fat I didn't look morbidly obese.

I can't get over how your legs look in the reflection. looks like you're wearing super tight shorts and your legs are squeezing out where they stop. kinda the upside down version of a muffin top

8
lemmy.world

Yeah it looks weird as fuck, and my front knee looks off to the side somehow. Gotta admit though it was really flattering to my muffin top so im not complaining 🤣

This is one of my pet peeves - fraudulent scales. There's no way in Hell that bathroom scale is that accurately measuring your weight. Yet it just displays it anyway to make the item feel more luxurious or high end than it really is.

7
Aeaoreply
lemmy.world

Could you please explain why bathroom scales aren’t accurate? I love to learn and this is new to me.

A scale is a scale right?

1
lemmy.world

Every scale has certain limitations on accuracy. A bathroom scale is just no where near the cost of a scale that can precisely measure to five significant figures.

4

I know what you mean but I can’t help but joke

“Dolly Parton, Keanu Reeves, who are the other 3 significant figures it can’t accurately weigh

2
lemmy.world

The ultimate power move was if there was something we couldn't unsee in the reflection

Old 4chan meme where posts were given a numerical value and users would try to guess/game doubles or triples for the last 2-3 digits in the string. It usually came with a stipulation, like "trips and I x". Haven't lurked in a looong time, so dunno if it's still a thing. Might be showing my age.

lbs = pounds

It doesn't make much sense to me but, American English....

And the scale is set for kilograms.

1

Min does 2 decimal points, but the last digit only shows 5-gram-increments. 80.00 -> 80.05 -> 80.10 and so on.

2

What are your thoughts on using Wegovy or Zepbound? Have you thought about asking a doctor for the prescription?

2

I used wegovy a few times and it was fine but i just couldnt do the needle anymore, im a giant pussy with that stuff. I tried pills but they didnt have too much of an effect. Just trying willpower atm now

Losing weight without the Rx is amazing. I have lost about 100 pounds on zepbound but do worry about what would happen if I stopped.

1

Good on ya mate. Yeah im just sticking to a diet of homecooked meals with mostly salads and small portion sizes so it hopefully becomes the new normal

3

My dude, counting in stones are for rookies. OP weighs approximately 7 × 10⁸ grains of sand

9

I wasn't aware that there were household scales with that level of precision, to 5 significant figures.

2

Always concerned when someone is trapped inside a reflection. Try tapping the inside of an ankle by 123.45 times

1

At first I assumed it was in lbs and was like "wow, you're tiny" and that didn't seem right so I zoomed in and went "wow, you're huge"

1
lemmy.world

How tall are you? If I was down to 120 I would be near death.

0

That explains a lot lol. For the record I think America should switch to metric but until we do I thinks in freedom units.

6
