The bundle is mid at best. You don't even have to try and convince anyone.

I think 4 of those games (including Postal) look very decent/promising, others either not my style or looking too generic/slop.

I have to say since this whole anti porn in games thing has happened, I've ironically exposed myself to more porn games.

Before I wouldn't imagine playing porn games. Ever since the itch unban, I've tried a few games on itch.io to see what the fuss was about and got absolutely hooked on Queens Brothel - to the point where I've paid for the full version on Patreon. And now I've got these games on my gog library.

If the Christian brothers and sisters at Collective Shout wanted less people exposed to porn games, lol. lmao even.

158

That is how their efforts usually work out.

They are quite adept at shitting and falling back in it.

Maybe they've gotten better since then. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Bless you, GOG. If you werent so expensive in my country, Id completly port my Steam lib in a heartbeat.

At first I thought you said "Grab the titties" and I chuckled, then I realized that I was the only one with my mind in the gutter.

Any game that has a Linux version on GoG, I get it there.
Yes, it is 5 times the price and I pay it.

FYI, clicking the "Claim now!" button under a game will still claim the whole bundle

i now own a bunch of porn games cuz i wanted to try Postal 2 -_-

edit: it is thankfully possible to hide games from your library, tho unfortunately heroic games launcher does not care 😖

Uhh, yeah me too. And they used my credit card to sign up for porn. Smh, GOG

14

Same LOL, I just wanted to snag Postal 2 DRM-free. Oh well

2
lemmy.world

Word of warning, clicking "Claim" on any of these games claims them all. I clicked claim on Postal 2 and got a warning message that I never thought to read, but now I have "Lust Theory" and other timeless classics in my GoG library.

Just wanted to put this out there.

The exact list of games is as follows:

  • POSTAL 2
  • Agony + Agony UNRATED
  • Leap of Love
  • Being a DIK – Season 1
  • Leap of Faith
  • House Party
  • HuniePop
  • Lust Theory
  • Treasure of Nadia
  • Summer’s Gone – Season 1
  • Fetish Locator Week One
  • Sapphire Safari

I legit thought this was a joke at first. They really said here have all these porn games. Not that I ever paid for them anyways, or played them even ....

12
lemmy.world

You should: Being a DIK is a masterpiece. The erotic content is really just one aspect of a topnotch visual novel. Great story arcs. DrPinkCake absolutely knows their stuff!

Haha it's a little weird! Postal 2 isn't a porn game, but is ultraviolent and has been generating controversy for 20 years!

Still got it, Postal Guy

Free marketing for Running with Scissors.

I used to live in Tucson, I knew a couple guys at Running with Scissors and yeah this doesn't surprise me. Dudes are pros at getting their names out there free of charge. When there's any sort of controversy of even the slightest thing in the games industry they WILL try and slap Postal on it. it works. they've been around for like 30 years now and have made like what? 4 postal games? and then remastered the others a few times that they had other devs work on. Completely independent too. They're not a huge company but everyone that works for them has been comfortable without much effort for some time now.

8

That is kind of amazing! Good for them for playing that hand well!

1

This is disgusting. Can someone please tell me what game this is.....so I can avoid it?

45

Now download them before they have GOG do age verification. The EU overwhelmingly voted to implement it on platforms that offer content not suitable for children.

19

Thank you. Claiming always resulted in an error, but adding it directly to the cart worked out.

I feel like this is going to be a trivia question.

"Who was the gayest gay who ever was a gay?"

"JohnVanDenver?"

"No, I'm sorry, the answer is JimVanDeventer."

2

Someone called out the name “Archie” and I turned around to see who wanted my attention. Call me whatever you want; it apparently doesn’t matter.

Anyone else having issues redeeming it? Hope I can nab them before the deadline.

Nevermind, I got it when I disabled my PiHole. 🤷

Had trouble getting them from Germany. Had to VPN to the UK.

14

Thats pretty funny given the current "save the children" censorship in the uk that is going on.

7

Did not work for me in Germany either. Had to VPN to Canada to claim it.

8

Yes. Germany for example requires a proper age verification with id, but since stores don't want to implement that, they just block these games. At least GoG lets you buy them through a VPN. Steam is much more thorough and won't let you buy them if the account has German payment info or a German address linked to it. You can create a second account with vpn and buy the games on that account using gift cards, but you can't gift the games to your main account.

I couldn't redeem on my phone until I opened Firefox instead of embedded chrome and log into GoG before I could get past the damned Cloudflare hell

6

I hate Cloudflare so much. It's getting to the point that some apps I use in browser will just stop working, and when I reload the tab to reset it, turns out Cloudflare was blocking the traffic until I do their stupidass human test.

2

Of the list, I would say Lust Theory is worth a look.

You are groundhogs daying through high school/college trying to bang every single woman in your life. Animations are... sufficient and I do kind of like that any of the more fucked up stuff is almost always followed up with "and then you were kicked so hard in the balls you died" although it would be nice if they weren't critical path for progression. And it is pretty hilarious that the game lets you define your relationship to the various ladies you live with... but it is still pretty clearly coded for incest of some form which leads to hilarity like "It is so morally wrong that you are having sex with your Live In Janitor"... which I guess would actually be really morally wrong...

But yeah. Mostly the bundle is the bottom of the barrel. Or stuff that has been around so long it is mostly just a meme for how bad porn games are (house party).

25
lemmy.world

I haven't played a porn game since I was a teen in highschool. 20-odd years ago. Now I own a whole mess of the things.

So, there's this game still on Steam called Slaves of Rome that is the definition of non-consentual NSFW games, and it's also an open-world action RPG, so the format is very accessible and also not badly done for an indie. So, it has me very confused why it was spared.

... How is that the name of an actual game?

Just in case, no, that was a joke about Voltaire, the philosopher.

The phrase "Holy Roman Empire" is most commonly used for the German empire that went from Charlemagne to 1800-ish (long after the fall of the "other" Roman Empire). Voltaire criticized the HRE of his time calling it "neither holy, nor Roman or an empire".

This quote is kind of a meme among Crusader Kings players for example because HRE is kind of a pain in these games.

3

In the wide world of indies, no name is too weird to use.

I did think of Voltaire the person, but I wasn't aware of the Crusader Kings connection.

Is Sapphire Safari... a furry porn version of pokemon snap??? I'm going to try it for shits and giggles because I adore pokemon snap. Wish me luck.

16

Just getting around to trying it now. Will update with further info.

Very first impressions:

Yep, its sexo pokemon snap! If you're into furry or pokephilia, and enjoy photography, this'll probably be a fun time. It seems like it is more anthro focused though, not that I'd be a good judge of any of this or anything. >_>;

Right off the bat, the walking animation is very janky, but otherwise it seems surprisingly polished. The tutorial is a bit info dumpy, but it's not that overwhelming.

Just starting actual gameplay now.

Edit 1: Managed to soft lock myself on the very first quest. Got stuck in a tent flap. Lol. Fixed with a reload.

Edit 2: Now I can't find this expedition log for the 2nd part of the first quest. This does not bode well. I swear I should work in QA, as I can't find anyone who's had this problem.

I'm giving up for tonight. It kinda feels like nobody play tested this.

14

Great catch! Thanks for sharing! As if I needed any more reason to respect GOG more than I already do. GOG always have been the OG GigaChads of online game merchants.

14

Plot twist - what Collective Shout wanted all along was to get these specific games for free (and more importantly - without official transactions to prove they've bought them)

9

if I could even download gog galaxy. there's no download link on their webpage and neither anything on the web. But pretty cool of them

8

The great thing about GOG is you don’t need the launcher, you can use a third party launcher like Heroic or just download the installers directly from the GOG website once you log in.

24

I think it’s de-emphasized because part of the GOG appeal is that you don’t need a launcher and can grab direct DRM free installers. The launcher just exists for convenience.

17

I can’t even log in, because their 2FA system is overwhelmed. I’ve been waiting almost four hours for an email code to hit my inbox.

3

They no longer require authy for time based codes, so I would update to use an authenticator app when you next get in.

1

It's not available for linux. That's the problem.

3

Yeah but it's totally optionally, so in that case I don't care much.

2

Whether you fellows like the games or not is not the point, the point is to get the games on principle alobe (ie; Oppose censorship)

5
lemmy.world

Strange. I redeemed the code, it shows in my purchase history, but none of the games show up in my collection. Oh well.

4

This is the rare case where at no point was a clear coherent statement ever made, and yet everybody knew exactly what your frustrated ranting mumbles meant.

4
lemmy.world

I'm for this because I want those games. But let's talk strategy. Didn't GoG just set the market value of those games to zero? Weren't they already hurt by the censorship? Wouldn't it be better to just give them a fair market to sell on?

2
zecareply

They probably cant do this unilaterally. Maybe gog paid for those copies and they are limited in quantity.
