100% this

Everyone else is heretics

You start at the top of the pentagram, because that's Spirit. You hit the other elements and end at Spirit.

I do it this way because it is the closest to how I was taught to write letters.

No, but upper case BDEFHIJKLPRTUVWXYZ all start at the top.

2

True (and happy cake day) but the star looks most like an A to me, which I think is why I write it the same way… 4135

I write BDFPR from the bottom.
Though I'm also a heretic who starts G from the middle, so don't listen to me.

2

In the Golden Dawn tradition (if I read and recall correctly) you start with 1 to 2 if invoking and 2 to 1 if banishing (which is probably the more common of the two)! Yay knowledge no one asked for 🤣

Really?! 524135

…and does no one go counterclockwise? I would have guessed it was less common and biased towards lefties, but there most be someone, right?

…also, whoever did 13542 is fired.

63

Same! It seems the obvious way to do it – starting with the one horizontal line.

I think this or the lefty version would produce the neatest stars.

6

I scrolled too far to see this.... I didn't know people were doing stars so differently.

2

I've never really thought about it that hard, but I have noticed that a lot of times I have trouble getting the star to fit the spot I intended and it winds up being squished and/or lopsided. I've always used 13524, but 52413 makes a lot of sense for solving that issue.

You start with a straight line. It literally makes the most sense cause it decides the size of the star as well.

16
lemmy.world

Any of them are straight lines and decide the size of the star. Some of us are more refined and can handle diagonal sizing.

Weird flex to call someone unrefined for how they draw a star. Not very refined.

For someone on lemy.lol you sure take things too seriously. 😉

Aww cute. Still not gonna just take you being rude though cause you can read.

You meant vertical I think, but get it, this order makes sense even though it wasn't my first instinct

1

This is the correct order. 5-to-2 sets the width of the star, which is important when writing multiple identical stars next to each other.

6

I was sad that I didn't learn that until high school. Never drew a star any other way after that. The young woman who taught me I can't remember, but the star.... I'll always remember haha

This is the only way. What kind of troglodyte starts on an upstroke?

Start at the top, go down to the left. Pick up pen. Start at the top, go down to the right. Pick up pen. Go across.

12

Tsk, true left-to-right writing would do the crossbar second.

1

I wasn’t aware there was any other way. I’m having an identity crisis over here.

No idea how or when I started doing it this way, but I can't change now!

1

Pretty sure my kindergarten teacher and mom both on our team. My fate was long ago sealed.

2

I guess yeah you could draw it with straight lines. Not sure why I assumed you wouldnt in retrospect.

2

No but I've been told the way I hold my pens is similar to the way left handed people right. Rather than push the pencil along the page I drag it. Resulting in my hand kind of looking like a 'C' when I'm write

The order is what is bothering you guys not that the Pentagons sides aren't equal length and the triangle leans right?

9

Presumably they have access to the Internet, finding one that isn't obviously wrong doesn't seem like it would be that difficult.

1

I do E134524E

was taught this way because it still looks neat even when you don't line up your starting and ending point

13524 (1)

I think the op medium- level comment is just a typo of this, otherwise wtf is 13542?

And I'm shocked I'm the first one to say this, surely this is by far the most common way?

7

1 1.5 2 2.5 3 3.5 4 4.5 5 5.5 1

Clean up your stars people, those middle lines are ugly as hell

I play for both teams but more importantly I think of it like writing a real fucked up capital G

I’m allergic to SVG zs so when the comment above said they were 425314, my internal reaction was “no, it’s just 42531”.

Why is your comment misaligned

Edit: got it! after checking the HTML, Lemmy interpreted your comment as a list, because of the number followed by a dot.

1

Doesn't it depend on the ritual?
The corner in which you're starting and ending should have a meaning and should set the subconscious for the ritual as symbol.

At least that's the idea, as far as I've understood it

4

I am legitimately surprised at how few people start with the horizontal line here. I can never get the damn thing lined up right if I don't start with the horizontal line.

4

Not gonna say which way I do it because that was my old phone dot pin thing and I'm paranoid, but for that I did something different to both of them.

135241 but they always look awful. Maybe starting at 4 is the play ⭐️🤔

2

Yeah I’m the same, now wondering if that’s why it looked so rough in my youth lmao

2

Wait, are we sharing how to do the LBRP or how to draw cartoon stars?

2

Well I draw it as a pentagram instead whenever possible, but I think I still start at 4 if you flip it.

2

I thought it was a typo in the op, but how are you getting from 5 to 4? I always chose a path with just straight lines...

4

413524 because I'm not a lizard person (this is a joke, I am joking, laugh)
