You can even wear a black robe if you want. There's no law that says you can't wear a dark flowing robe and cut your grass with a scythe at 2 in the morning.
You might want to mention this to your vet if you haven't already. It's probably nothing, but just in case there's an underlying health problem causing this.

My dog can sometimes space out and stare at nothing during the day. I would shit my pants if that happend at night.
