The anger against data centers is inspiring panic among AI engineers and corporate executives. The ferocity of the backlash has stunned the tech industry

It's the other way around - they're talking about building a lot more data centers than they're actually building, to convince investors that AI is actually going to make 10x the revenue in three years.

Where is that revenue going to come from? Which companies are looking to quadruple their IT budget? Where are all the consumers with a ton of disposable income? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The fact that you can’t run through Windows setup w/o internet and an online account is absolute bullshit

Looks like a Gentoo install. Set the hard disk up ready for use, put some Gentoo files on it, switch to running from the hard disk instead of the install CD or USB stick, download more Gentoo stuff, compile and install a Linux kernel.

Assuming you're not talking about the one with three languages and a continue button, if you don't get that one I can't really help you.

Ads and tracking infiltrated TVs. Now they're coming for monitors.

I'd argue that most people would see the pop-up, dismiss it and then be unable to tell you what it said. People have had a lot of practice at ignoring things trying to get their attention, because you need that skill to get through modern life where your attention is considered someone else's property to be sold to advertisers.

It isn't enough to show people ads, the manufacturer needs to be able to bill people for the ads. They need telemetry and updated ads. Built in ads aren't going to fly, especially for the manufacturer's own stuff which they could sell more effectively by not being shit to use.

He's in the looking for someone else to leave holding the bag phase, that's why he merged his AI business with SpaceX, took it public and had the rules changed to force index funds to buy in.

4k is better for web browsing and normal desktop use than gaming, IMO. 4k text is beautiful, you actually have enough pixels for fine details to not turn into a blurry mess.

Thankfully its looking like it won't last much longer. There just isn't enough money in the system to grow the bubble much further. Nobody has another trillion dollars to throw on the fire.

Anon gets laid off

I realise it's a joke and the details are irrelevant, but an EV is probably going to take weeks to drain its battery just sitting on in the garage. Days if it's running the A/C.

Moving the vehicle costs so much energy that it's a bit shocking how long an EV battery lasts if you use it for things other than driving.
