China to limit teenagers’ smartphone use to two hours a day

If you actually read the thing it's fine. It just requires phone manufacturers include a parental control function that is CAPABLE of those limits built in without charging extra for it. The parents still have to turn it on and can exempt apps from it or not set it up at all.

The most "authoritarian" part is online services with recommendations are "encouraged" (not actually required) to set up separate age algorithms. Algo for 3 year olds they recommend to be mostly audio and not ADHD video, algo for 8 year olds educational only, 12 year olds "positive" entertainment, 16 year olds "age appropriate". And they want app store recommendations to not advertise lootbox games at kids.

Del Monte, the 139-year-old canned fruits and vegetables company, seeks bankruptcy protection

What happened here is Del Monte was sold in a leveraged buyout to the son of Ferdinand Marcos's money launderer. When the dictatorship collapsed the guy who was in charge of the shell companies and Swiss bank accounts and keeping track of the shrink wrapped pallets of $100s buried in the jungle just kept it all, and became a private equity fund. (typical private equity origin story)

He bought Del Monte with debt and then transferred all the debt to Del Monte once he owned it, then his creditors who are in on it resold the debt to retail investors and pension funds as AAA recession-proof revenue from a 100 year old canned food company, and now he has Del Monte declare bankruptcy to fuck them.

Retailers are pulling back from self-checkout after years of theft, errors, and questionable time savings

They aren't bringing back cashiers, they'll have one cashier with a massive line as a deterrent to get you to download the scan as you go app on your phone so you supply the bar code scanner at your expense and they track your phone and change the digital price tags based on your Palantir profile as you walk up.

Or the other option is Walmart has started remodeling their stores into primarily warehouses. The main entrance is badged only for picker workers to hand orders to Doordash or put app orders in people's cars. The legacy experience entrance will be a temporary secondary option until they get enough robots to make the building fully lights out and automated. Shambling automatons will emerge from the black hell portal in the surface of The Edifice with your tampons and then run facial recognition on you and sniff your car for drug and explosive residue.

Comrads, we must provide critical support, not critical thinking!

The military bases doing the imperialism are named after those guys and what the Confederacy wanted to do if they won the war was take over Cuba and Venezuela and rename the Gulf of Mexico the American Sea. America is what happens when you aren't a tankie and quit Reconstruction.

yellow Michael Parenti about critical support:

And those who demand instant perfection, the day after the revolution, they get up and say "Are there civil liberties for the fascists? Are they going to be allowed to have their newspapers, and their radio programme? Are they going to be able to keep all their farms?" The passion that some of our liberals feel the day after the revolution, the passion and concern they feel for the fascists—the civil rights and civil liberties of those fascists who were dumping and destroying and murdering people before—now the revolution has got to be perfect! It's got to be flawless! Well, that isn't my criteria! My criteria is, what happens to those people who couldn't read? What happens to those babies who couldn't eat—that died of hunger? And there, that's why I support revolution. The revolution that feeds the children gets my support! Not blindly, not unqualified. And the Reaganite government that tries to stop that kind of process, that tries to keep those people in poverty and illiteracy and hunger—that gets my undiluted animosity and opposition.

Waymo CEO Says Society Is Ready for One of Its Cars to Kill Someone

Instead of running a red light or hitting a pole self-driving cars drive full speed under a trailer and decapitate everybody, or someone falls against the car and it detects an accident and decides to pull over and slooowly runs over the person and drags them down the street ignoring all the screaming. The kind of accidents society is desensitized to are the ones they taught the car how to avoid, the fucked up shit where somebody gets hydraulically pressed to death in slow motion while 15 people film it on their phones is what Waymo is going to do.

Reddest vs Bluest american baby names. Note these are NOT the most common names. Just the names with the biggest red-blue state prevalence divide.

Moshe is a Jewish name, Kohen is a fake Jewish name for Christian zionists, Baylor is a Christian college with a football team popular with gambling addicts.

In the Bible the oak of righteousness will not bend, and no matter how many Olive Gardens she's banned from Oaklynn will never bend from knowing that she wants to see the manager and you're a slur.

why don't pandas exist in Chinese history prior to 1869? the creature "Mo" that is referenced looks nothing like a Panda

China had two big black and white animals: pandas and tapirs, and the people writing the books weren't out in the jungle, they were buying dead skins from dealers who hadn't seen it alive either. Mo started out as a more accurate panda sighting and then gradually turned into a chimera with a tapir nose and panda claws and magical hydrophobic fur like a tapir and eats metal like an exaggerated panda. And then it got even more tapir-like when Europeans found tapirs first and declared them the basis of the Mo.

When the provisional government came along, granted free speech rights and universal suffrage

The provisional goverment was unelected and self-appointed, arrested people for arguing in favor of refusing to fight in WWI, and after months of protests said they would allow women to vote whenever they got around to having an election but women couldn't vote until 20 and men 18.

Lenin wasn't opposed to the provisional government when it came along because he was in Germany and didn't know how mad a lot of people were at the random gang of Chuck Schumers from the Tsarist government who had declared themselves in charge, ignoring the Soviets that were already forming an elected government, and spent months stalling their version of an election so they could keep the incredibly unpopular WWI going.

Lenin started opposing the provisional government after 20k awol marines with machine guns showed up at his office saying they hated it, he said ok and then spent a couple months writing a book to explain why the angry guys with guns have a point.

If he was trying to be accelerationist he would have just hyped up the marines and let them shoot everybody instead of following the path of least resistance to a stable government that could last 6 months without a coup.

The real answer is you can't, every time the astronauts take a piss it's throwing everything off. But they do know where San Diego is going to be, and they want to land the capsule off the coast of San Diego, so they keep making adjustments throughout the flight so they stay on course to hit the water at 8:07:27 because that's when San Diego is going to be there.

Conspiracy theory guy that loves RFK Jr. He assumes Christy Walton funds anti-Trump ads because Walmart wants to hire illegal immigrants. Actually she's just a libbed out white woman who lives in southern California and has more money in solar companies than Walmart because most of the Walmart stock bypassed her and went to her oldest son.

Peter Thiel and other tech billionaires are publicly shielding their children from the products that made them rich

They also shield their kids from pasteurized milk and harvest their blood and take them to Epstein island. None of these people love their kids, they're toys and accessories. They say their kid gets an hour of screen time the same way they say they work 100 hours a week. They haven't seen their kids in weeks, "screen time" is a good buzzword that makes you sound like a parent but doesn't require remembering your kids' names.

It's not illegal to piss outside in California. It's illegal to create a nuisance to public health like leaving a puddle of piss on a paved playground, and it's illegal to piss "lewdly" which doesn't just mean sexual it includes when you did it right in front of the security camera trying to offend the liberal teachers who won't let you in the building and show them how above the law you are.

Polestar Banned from Selling New Cars in the US Starting in 2027

Reply in thread

Commenters wanted BIS to define “integrated or attached hardware or software” to clarify whether software or hardware attached by a Bluetooth device or USB to a vehicle would be subject to the rule, or if the rule includes only integrated technologies. Per its definitions, this final rule is not limited to integrated technologies.

https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2025/01/16/2025-00592/securing-the-information-and-communications-technology-and-services-supply-chain-connected-vehicles

Carplay is also banned. The rule is fake, it's just pretextual to ban Chinese cars so it will always be stretched to cover any possible Chinese car. The US forced free trade on everybody assuming it would always win, and now that it's losing it's just cheating. It needs to stick some kind of bullshit technicality on the treaty violation so it can abuse WTO procedure to loop this case around through appeals for 30 years before China can get a final ruling against the US.
