What movie terrified you as a child? Or what character?
A Christmas Carol (1984) really fucked with me when I was younger; I think I've rewatched it since and it wasn't that bad

What's the current way to play games in HDR while keeping the Steam overlay working?
Reply in thread
This. You can use something like ProtonPlus (available as a flatpak/on Discover) to install/update ProtonGE if you're feeling lazy, and can set the default compatibility layer in steam settings so you don't have to adjust it for every game

Why are there so few open source weather apps for iOS, compared to the very many that are on Android?
iirc, it costs $99 a year to be able to upload apps on the apple app store rather than a one-time $25 on android. Also, apple test flight or whatever has a limited amount of people who can use it, rather than just installing an apk on android. Apple's ecosystem makes it much harder for open source or small apps to exist for iOS devices.

I've been in a similar situation
edit: For context, there was a bug with the graphics driver that was putting out an error every frame, at 200+ fps... needless to say, I could actively see the log growing in size

What are your go-to YouTube channels to fulfill your Tom Scott itch now days?
I'm kinda surprised no one's mentioned them yet; but if you wanted a long-winded version of Tom Scott with a focus on technologies, take a look at Technology Connections

Asus only cut the PC department in July, and now the commercial department is also going to be cut (Asus Zenfone 10 is their last phone)
This is quite sad news. I feel like there isn't a phone other than the zenfone 9/10 that could be a valid option for me. I guess I'll just stick with this phone as long as I can. Hopefully they also release the unlock bootloader so I can download a new OS or some updates.

I had an issue on my PC (assuming faulty graphics driver or bug after waking from sleep) that caused my syslog file to reach 500GiB. Yes, 500GiB.

If a person from 1700 asked you your job, would they understand your answer, and if not, how would you explain it to them?

They'd still be confused, considering commercial typewriters weren't invented until the late 1800s

Like AstralPath said, the take a fairly large portion of the final payout, but more than that, when they are working on commission, they pay for all the costs, which isn't very tempting. For most laywers, if not all, working on commision, the have to be fairly certain of two things:
Unfortunately, not both are true that often. So, many people are just left screwed over with no way to recover anything
