We did it!

Insert picture of a modern newspaper page with 3 visible sentences of text and the rest is begging for subscriptions, sponsored content, straight up ads, and other bullshit.

Fun fact! I was literally tortured (yes, actually for real) by Collective Soul so anytime I hear one of their two "hit" songs I get flung into PTSD flashbacks. I have to cover my ears and basically sink to the floor or immediately leave the area if that's possible.

Suffice to say I hate them.

Also I was a retail slave for over a decade and hate all Christmas music. Super mega hate.

Edit: abused by the music, not the band. Sorry I didn't mean to be misleading.

Fluoride drops and tablets for kids should be taken off the market, FDA says

This reminds me of Swish. Did anyone else have Swish growing up?

It was this program and I think they did it because like the entire community was on well water. Once a month they came into our school and had us rinse our mouths with this really high fluoride mouthwash. We had to swish it for like 2 whole minutes or something that seemed like a long time as a child.

It was probably the only thing that saved my teeth growing up (neglectful parents).

whats the cheapest legal way to dispose of my dead body so i can stick it to the funeral industry?

2 things that piss off the funeral industry

  1. Aquamation/water cremation/alkaline hydrolysis
  2. Human composting

Both are legal in my state. You should join the fight if they aren't legal where you are.

Both are cheaper than burial. With aquamation you get back a bag of cremains just like with cremation. The only difference is instead of fire they boil you in an alkaline solution.

With composting it turns people into literal soil. You can take that back or donate it to a charity that is repairing a forest.

I second the Lemmy user who suggested Caitlin Doughty and the Order of the Good Death.

Do you agree?

Not always. My dad was the black sheep of the family because he was fucking crazy. It was a self imposed moniker. "Everyone was out to get him," despite constant love and support from his family, especially his mom who is a goddamn angel.

Bipolar drug addicts are not fun. Not fun at all.

I'm not okay.

I moved to Minnesota in the early 2000s and was blown away by all of the fireflies. It was magical. I'll never forget snuggling up with someone and watching the fireflies during a thunder storm.

The decline was unbelievably rapid. The last 6 years I was there I'd maybe see one or two the whole summer. If that.

It's so sad because they're truly wondrous creatures.
