How IMDB Users Rate Season 4 of SNW

I’d feel better about ep1 if it was presented as a difficult or haunting choice. It’s the hunch aspect that really bothers me.
But on reflection, there were still some very good ideas in there. The small bit with the translation of “alone” was possibly the cleverest thing that’s happened this season, and hard to actually pull off in dialogue as well as they did.

Funny, I thought the first episode was pretty terrible. Pike’s decision to go along with a planetary genocide on a hunch was indefensible to say the least. And there wasn’t even very much dinosaur action to offset that with stupid fun.
The rest of the season I’ve really enjoyed. A big step up in quality from season 3, though still not hitting the highs that season 2 reached.

Episode Discussion | Star Trek: Strange New Worlds | 4x05 "Level-Five Transporter Accident"
Highly enjoyable episode. I laughed. My partner face-palmed. We both especially appreciated Pelia's puppet design.
The character development on T'Pring was top notch. I love that she's embraced chaos so much that, by the end, she's pranking Spock by making him believe he dreamed the whole incident. A nice quirk that long term fans know will escalate to the truly epic prank she'll eventually play on him in TOS Amok Time.
I just worry the writers were too subtle about this. I'm already noticing some more gullible viewers think that the bulk of the episode was actually meant to be a dream. True fans know that SNW's writers are brave enough not to pull that, though!

I'll go to bat for it. The existing Klingon makeup was initially pretty fearsome, but had become too friendly and familiar to the fans. We'd watched Worf get beat up 100 times, get married, and fret over a pimple, and we'd seen too many jolly Klingon blood wine parties. It wouldn't have been effective for Discovery's story of a truly alien warrior race re-emerging after 100 years and going straight for Starfleet's jugular. A dramatic redesign was the best most effective way to put us in the characters' headspace for the Klingon war arc. And they'd already been reworked in the past, so why not again?
(I appreciate that you oppose each redesign, though! Rarely see that consistency.)

Is it 'Worf' like 'Cher' or is his full name 'Worf Roshenko"?
Worf, son of Mogh, House of Martok, son of Sergey, House of Rozhenko, bane to the Duras family, slayer of Gowron.

I know you don’t really mean that, Mr. Vulcan!

Not a meme, I just really like this interaction.

Kirk never turned evil! He just got into an ego-driven power struggle with his old ship's captain, almost derailing a vital mission to save Earth. Then he authorised the creation of a doomsday weapon, which he left unguarded and undefended. Then he tried to fix that mistake by rushing over with a training ship full of cadets, only to get attacked by another old mistake he never kept tabs on. Then he stole that same ship...
Oh, shit, you're right.

‘Picard’ Season 2 Was Rewritten After Paramount Deemed It “Too Star Trek,” Says EP
Click baity headline. Here's the actual quote:
“There were Romulans—there was a whole thing. The idea was that Guinan’s bar was presented as a normal bar in Los Angeles, but if you knew the right thing to do, you could go into the back through the telephone phone booth and that was Rick’s Café and it was a stopping point for all these different species that were actually there on Earth with a ‘Do not interfere’ thing happening. So you had a lot more Star Trek happening in the backdrop of it. Ultimately, the powers that be at that time were like, ‘This is too much.’ But there were some really good ideas there that were pretty cool.”
Sounds like they wanted to throw in a bunch of random alien species cameos that would have done nothing but distract from the plot. Frankly, there's too much of that in Season 2 already. We don't need young Guinan, Gary Seven's team, a Soong, visitors from Vulcan, the Borg Queen, and Q all mucking about with Earth. Pick two to three of those and actually develop them.

My partner does this all the time. Unfortunately, they’re often completely wrong about what I was trying to say. Suddenly we’re having two completely different conversations simultaneously.

Such an annoying response. Personality is not on the menu. You get tits or you get ass, make your choice.
It’s like playing a game of fuck/marry/kill with a list of celebrities and someone says “well obviously I’m going to marry my wife Charlene”. That’s not the damn game!

You're re-making TNG and get one F-bomb. Where are you dropping it?

What, like it's hard?
Actually, there was just a lot of downtime between shots of STV. Kirk, Spock, and McCoy spent about 40 years in that brig cell waiting for Scott to break them out. By the time they made it back home they had caught up to the TNG era. That's why Worf was able to serve as as defense attorney in the trial in STVI. It's obvious when you think about it.

All the different Star Trek series on a triangle graph
I hate new Trek. A bald French captain with an English accent? A blind man flying the ship? The first officer is completely unprofessional, trying to bang every woman he sees (Even holograms! The ship has a virtual brothel, now!). It wont survive a year, I guarantee it.
