It’s official — LCD TVs won’t see any further development.
Reply in thread
Look into commercial displays. They are meant for store fronts and guest areas. These screens are typically built a bit more robust than consumer TVs. They may only have one of each input ports, may lack soundboard and built-in tuners, but they have sleeker designs and lack smartTV bloatware. You may need more peripheral equipment for the screen to function as a home use TV. Just do a little research and see if this works for your setup.

What's the last book that unexpectedly blew your mind and why?
Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer.
The book felt like a constant epiphany. I wanted to rekindle my relationship with nature and it helped me understand land stewardship in a way that I wasn't able to grasp. The author connects nature and science so well that nature's magic doesnt get lost in the scientific rigour. It also doesn't shame the reader for their past or background, and was thoughtful and optimistic. The audio book is also read by the author which is great.

Dune: Part Two | Official Trailer 2
I love this story, loved the books, the movie was visually fantastic, but it took me three viewings to get through it. I don't know if my attention could handle the dense nature of it in a film format. Does anyone else think it would have been more digestible as an 6-8 part series? Still great to see this level of sci-fi in film.

How to remove tracking metadata from my PDF
Okay hear me out... physically print the documents then, using a high resolution scanner, make a digital copy and finally use a raster to vector convertor.
I know this is probably dumb, but I just wanted to throw this out there.

Which lemmy community do you wish had more attention?
Disc golf. There's just seems to be nothing for it yet.

If we call reddit users redditors, what do we call lemmy users
Lemminators. The first were here when the fediverse was created, but since July 1st redditors are becoming Lemminators too: Judgement Day.

My yard is full of fireflies!
That's awesome. I miss nights when the fireflies were so numerous the yard looked lit up. I always assumed light pollution had a lot to do with it. How big is your native plant habitat?
Side note, look at stand up weed pullers for the thistles. It keeps you far away from the spikes and pulls from the root. Although thistle flowers are some of my favorite blossoms.

Is a VPN necessary for torrenting?
Reply in thread
Would you mind expanding on public and private trackers, like ones you suggest and ones you avoid? I haven't torrented since 2009ish and am kind of lost in the landscape at the moment.

One PC screen is more than enough...
Used to feel the same until I got the second setup and working well, and now I can't live with just one.
I've been telling myself three is just overkill and pointless, but I secretly want to try it.

Southern guy probably was eating a Vidalia onion. The soil is low in sulfur, I believe, and has a more neutral acidity, so the onion is pretty uniquely sweet. I heard one older southerner call them dirt apples.
