Ignorance or enlightenment?

I am 24, autistic, straight edge, and a data analyst. I'm the youngest person in my company, the closest person to me in age is 45. I haven't used a regular social media site since I was 14. My only interaction with modern discourse is my girlfriend's 18 year old sister. When she talks she might as well be speaking another language. My hobbies are unix, classic literature, VHS collecting, and synthesizers. My girlfriend calls me her 80 year old boyfriend.

Immune to marketing

Advertisements work opposite for me. If I see an ad, I hate the company. I adamantly will only choose materials based on personal research and the suggestions of my peers. Any suggestion by a corporate entity or otherwise paid method will only serve to brew hate. Beyond that, I will go to just about any means to get rid of ads. I often refuse to deal with a company if their ads show up when I don't want them to, or if their ad annoys me. There is no good ad.

Always found it offputting how often I hear about people's step parents being somehow worse than their biological parent, and their biological parent being totally cool with it.

Not saying that's your situation. Just something I thought about. Like my friend growing up had a cool mom and dad, but his step dad was the biggest asshole ever. And his mom was totally cool with it. Guy tried to break my ps3 cause we were playing COD and he had an unspoken rule of no M rated games in the house. And all the times he called me homophobic slurs, even though I'm not gay. His mom was great though, so it made no sense.

I started using linux when I had an nvidia gpu, it worked alright enough. Not many drivers issues, most of my issues were age related for the gpu itself. I did swap to all AMD hardware for my new computer. The swap to AMD is nice. I did upgrade everything from my previous stuff, so no matter what I expected an increase of performance. I do notice that my resource usage is lower and general speed for mundane tasks is better.

Switching to Gentoo has been the best. If I don't want something I just blacklist it in my make.conf. getting errors from an odd package? Blacklist. Don't want systemd or gnome software? Blacklist. It's great. My shit runs insanely fast and my system only breaks when I explicitly do something stupid, and it's usually just one minor adjustment away from getting fixed.
