My dad just died a few minutes ago, and the paramedics left a mess hidden under his bed.
I’m sorry about your dad.

That one time my cat caught a cold...
My new kitten had a terrible cold when we first got him. I’ve never heard a cat sneeze so much. We even had to wipe his nose with tissues. Glad to hear your guy is doing better!

Some medications can make you constipated. Opioids, for instance.

The Walgreens in my town has started closing their pharmacy early because they don’t have enough staff to run it.

AMAs are the latest casualty in Reddit’s API war

There are a couple small subreddits I’m part of that are lifelines, close communities for people who need a space to share information & be themselves. I’ve checked in on them once during the past month & they’re still holding together. The mods are staying because those small groups of users need them & don’t have another place to go. I expect once the Fediverse spawns more highly specialized niche communities, they’ll drift over.

I haven’t deleted my account - it’s 17 years old! But I also haven’t posted in a couple months other than saying I’ve moved to Mastodon. I said I’d hold on to the bitter end & I will. I’m not leaving, they’ll have to evict me.

Get yourself a good app & it can give you recommendations. Personally, I’m using IceCubes & really like it.
Also, look up the FollowFriday hashtag to see who others recommend. Cory Doctorow is there, so are Jeff Jarvis & Amanda Marcotte.

D.C. Attorney General is probing Leonard Leo’s network
I’m used to wealthy guys like this never having to answer for their crimes, so it’s nice to hear he’s at least being investigated. Not holding out much hope this will go anywhere, though.

Why are Mastodon's trending hashtags so ... dull?

There are a few of us out there being weird. But it is very tech-heavy right now, as was Twitter at first.

What would you do if you won the lottery?
Build a high-speed train from Columbia, SC to Charleston, SC. In the grand scheme of things, it might seem like a waste of money. But man, for the few dozen years I’ve got left on this earth, it would be awesome to see & experience.

Zelensky On Starlink-Gate: Musk “Committing Evil” & Driven By “Big Ego”
All the same, I think Zelensky is going to find plenty of people agree with him, even if they’re too diplomatic to say it out loud.

This is Tiger, a former semi-feral foster cat that still won't let me (mostly) touch her, but she's becoming more comfortable here.
She looks very relaxed in that picture!

Ukraine's amphibious assault on Crimea sours Putin's big moment
Surprised this is the first I’ve heard of this. A successful Ukrainian assault on Crimea seems like fairly significant news.

I agree. I want to see people’s opinions on the news of the day. By the way, I recommend following @[email protected] if you want a little controversy. He was one of my favorite posters from Twitter & has gone all-in on Mastodon.

“I’ll be careful.”
A friend once pointed out to me that if you have to tell yourself this, you should stop whatever you’re doing (e.g. pouring bleach while wearing your best shirt) and reevaluate.
