I have /e/ on my Fairphone 5 and I like it well enough. I was looking for a degoogled European android ROM and it works OK for that. My banking apps etc. all work and I only occasionally have problems with apps relying too heavily on Google services and therefore not working.

They definitely have better integration with Murena services but I use Proton instead and I've not had a problem.

I've heard good things about iodé too.

Also this ignores that 50k goes a lot further in France than in the US. In my experience cost of living is around 1.5x in the US when you account for everything than it is in France.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. In broad strokes, here's the thinking to reply to a few comments at once:

1. We didn't want to use a phone-based solution because she doesn't always carry her phone in the middle of the night. This goes for carrying a button.

2. A LifeAlert system could work, but they usually involve buttons.

After talking about it, we realised that simply putting out a baby monitor or equivalent might be the most effective - she can shout at it and it will go direct. An alternative would be setting up a HA alert to broadcast based on a phrase (or a few). We'll weigh up the options but I'm leaning towards the former.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the ideas - I think HA might not be the solution after all, but hopefully I can keep them from installing wiretaps Amazon Alexa in their house.

It's not some conspiracy against Lineage, Lineage seems great. Haven't used it in a while but that's just because I use e/OS personally.

I responded to their email asking for donations explaining why I won't be donating this year. I usually donate a small amount each year but I won't be until they change their mind.

My partner and I played Roottrees together and I think it might have been our favourite game ever. We really enjoyed The Case of the Golden Idol too which scratches a similar itch (though I would love for them to make a Roottrees sequel)
