I think the real test will be when these API rules go into effect at the end of the month. Will all these people who showed solidarity the last two days leave the site then, or will they just quietly download the official app and continue on?

Looks like for now they're just going to use their own forums for updates and such. Would be cool if they landed on Lemmy eventually like the Star Trek subreddit did.

This is all everyone is going to talk about for a while huh? As if most of the active posts being about Reddit wasn't bad enough.

If we want Lemmy to succeed we have to do more than whine about this kind of thing 24/7.

Damn, just straight up stealing other people's content. Very cool

Yep, seeing /r/conservative at the top or /r/all was enough to convince me to just close Reddit completely.

That works if I browse only my subbed communities, but sometimes I want to explore by all. It would be nice to be able to explicitly say "but not these instances."

My first thought is that's crazy and way overboard. My second thought is what have y'all been doing to the bathrooms??

I disagree with a lot of the content coming from that instance. The "why" isn't the point though. A lot of people would probably appreciate the ability to just not see posts from specific instances.

I have done this so many times and for no particular reason. It's just fun!

I'd wager most will go back. But Lemmy might retain a pretty substantial amount of its new users. I for one want to stay here, but we'll see how many content-creating users return to Reddit after the blackout.

I'm already anticipating the articles about the inevitable launch-day patch and mountain of breaking bugs.

I agree, but the whole "instances" and federation stuff can be overwhelming for the average user. As long as enough power users and content creators make the move, then Lemmy has a good shot long-term.

Thank you for saying this. Being anti-religion and anti-Islam are not the same thing. Context would be very helpful for OPs post because that changes the whole conversation really.

I hope that's how it goes. I'm just wary or Meta with their love of data harvesting having an interesting in ActivityPub. That said, I'll wait and see how it goes before making a judgment.

So what I had to do was search for the community I want to block and block them from their main page. The settings page just shows you who you already blocked and lets you unblock them if desired. At least that's how it works on the web interface.

Yeah ngl it doesn't sit right with me making this version of the Skrulls into the bad guys. I was super interested in what they would do with them after writing them as immigrant refugees in Captain Marvel. But looks like we're just going with the problematic trope of having immigrants/refugees be terrorists.

I'm still hoping to enjoy the show on the whole, but I'm going to have to overlook that part to do so.

I love playing an Artificer. It's a crazy-flexible class with how different its sub-classes are. You can really fill any niche you want to with it, although my favorite is the Artillerist. Eldritch Canon go!

After Marvel underutilized Cobie Smulders for like 11 years, I'm betting it was a Harrison Ford/Star Wars kind of deal: "I'll come back for this if you kill my character off."

Dang it, Ubisoft is gonna reel me back in with this one.
