From a non-US standpoint this is rather easy:

You have 2 geriatric options. Option 1 would lead to a dictatorship. Option 2 would lead to the - non-ideal - status quo.

How the fuck do you even have to think about which option would be better???

I'm not an American and I read the whole 45 pages indictment. One one hand, because it was highly entertaining to read Agent Oranges tweet in such a serious context, on the other hand because, in a way, this affects the whole world. The defendant was such a horrible (and effective) role model to authoritarian politicians around the globe and I honestly believe the US won't recover from a not-guilty verdict or even worse, a second term of that ape.

But even IF he somehow, miraculously, gets a prison sentence - there is still so much to be done. The whole apparatus that enabled him should face justice. Not only his direct co-conspirators but also republican congressmen & -women that violated their oath to protect your republic from exatly the tyranny that the defendant tried to establish.

But who am I kidding; In reality I am already waiting for the announcement of his second term, the pardoning of each and everyone of his co-conspirators plus a self-pardon (how crazy is that?!) from '47. Thats how much trust I have in your system at this point.

Honestly not too surprising. But good luck moderating the bigger subs without the old volunteers.

Nobody in our country voted for that tone deaf asshole either. He was just "stepped in" as an interim after our prior catastrophe of a chancellor stepped down (Sebastian Kurz - He also made it to international media for his corruption).

For a moment i was very confused what the Irish Republican Army has to do with Biden.

Gotta admit this was one hell of a PR stunt! Impressive it actually worked. Considering democrats as a whole are center right on an international scale it couln't have been easy to convince working class folks they actually give a damn.

Die AfD steht im Umfragehoch. Für Vizekanzler Habeck liegt der Erfolg der Rechten im Fehlen einer »funktionierenden konservativen Partei« in Deutschland.

Interessant. In Österreich zB haben wir eine mehr als gut funktionierende konservative Partei (ÖVP) und trotzdem werden die Rechten immer stärker.

Für mich wirkt das ganze viel simpler: Den Menschen geht es dank Klimaveränderung, Inflation etc. immer schlechter, daher werden vermehrt Sündenböcke gesucht. Populistische Parteien wie die AfD oder die FPÖ bei uns haben in sochen Zeiten ganz automatisch hohen Zulauf da sie vermeintlich einfache Lösungen für die Probleme der Bürger haben (Wir für uns, wir gegen die anderen, wir gegen "die da oben", etc.).

Ich finde diese Entwicklungen zum fürchten. Ein jeder Deutscher/Österreicher müsste es eigentlich besser wissen. Aber vlt. brauchma einfach wieder mal an "Starken Mann" und an Krieg gegen die Welt der uns in die Steinzeit zurückbefördert :(

I dont think defederation is the way to go here. It could be another scenario that could be solve elegantly via a tagging system.

But I agree that stuff which is in a legal grey area or outright forbidden in many countries should not show per default on All. There already is a NSFW setting that you can activate and deactivate (this btw can solve the issue to 99% for you right now if you're willing to pass on other NSFW content).

There could be an additional setting to see things that "might be illegal in your country of residence" or simply NSFL. If you then mark such communities appropriatly it could solve the issue for people that want a) no exposure and b) no legal risk due to being shown such communities. And I count myself among those that dont want anything to do with loli or the likes.
