what would Reddit need to do to get you to go back

Reverse API changes, fire Spez, and sticky an apology to the frontpage.

But even if they did that, I'm not going back 😂

I've been tired of reddit for a while, too many bots, too many bad mods, too many psychos and trolls. Basically, it's just too crowded. It's nothing like it was when I joined in 2010. The spirit of the site died a long time ago and you can't get it back.

Is anyone else beginning to mourn reddit?

Yeah for sure. I was on reddit for 13 years, there were users I recognised by name, people I was friendly with, people I'd have intense debates with, many, many, many subreddits I loved.

But nothing lasts forever, and this place seems nice so here's to new beginnings 🍻

Do you feel like getting an expensive wah pedal is worth it?

So they all do essentially the same thing in principle, which is turning the bass/treble up and down with a filter. Imagine playing a note and then rolling your pickup tone up and down, it's essentially the same thing.

The differences between pedals are basically what filter is being used, what frequency range it has, build quality etc.

So yes, you can get a similar effect with a cheaper pedal but no they do not all sound the same.

Personally I think the Crybaby is fantastic and absolutely worth the money, but I bought mine when I was 14 (which was a loooong time ago now) because I wanted to be Jimi Hendrix, I didn't consider any alternatives because... I was 14 and 14 year olds are frivolous.

Don't spend your money just yet, I would say you need to go to a guitar shop (if you can) and try 3 or 4 wah pedals and see what you like, and if you can find something that sounds great for less money then go for it!

But equally, if you can afford the crybaby and that's what you want then it is an excellent choice.

For everyone new to Lemmy, how are you finding the experience?

Considering how new it is and how many people (like me) who have suddenly turned up from reddit I think it's doing brilliantly.

I'm using Jerboa and it's not bad but it could be a bit better. I'm getting a few bugs like the screen juddering when I scroll now and again, and the UX takes some getting used to.

But yeah, overall I'm impressed and excited to see this place grow.

Just please don't ever do a reddit 😂

Reddit refugees, has your favorite sub migrated already?

I mean I mainly spent my time on the UK based subs and we've got United Kingdom and casualuk equivalents here already which is good. They both need a lot more users though.

Mainly what I'm missing are skateboarding, more specific music subs like metal, punk etc., but those will come in time I'm sure.

Nice to be here by the way, still getting used to how the whole fediverse thing works but it seems pretty cool so far!
