Any good games that break the mold
The witness is a really interesting puzzle game that can be had for not that much.
Or if you are looking for something more actiony then I would recommend remnant: from the ashes or remnant 2. Described as souls like with guns, but they really change up the formula I found with semi random worlds and bosses.

Oh god, no UAC?
What I would do is install kiosk mode from HACS. Build a dashboard for them that only shows what you want them to see, then add kiosk mode so they can't access the menus. Set it as their default and it should be fine

Programmers: Stop Calling Yourselves Engineers
There is a big difference between a software engineer and a software developer/programmer. In the same way there is a difference between a civil engineer and a builder.
A software engineer is the one who scopes the project. They define the feasibility, the limitation and exeptions, the tools to use, as well as costing and time planning and management.
The programmers are the ones who work to this scope and utilise the specified tools and technologies to create the product.
I have a degree in software engineering and all of this was covered. From writing scoping documentation, to time and costing with Gantt charts. This is the actual difference.

New apartment help needed
For lighting, I would personally avoid smart bulbs, especially if you are redoing the apartment anyway.
All they lead to from my experience are annoyances when guests/partners inevitably flick a switch and turn off the smart bulb.
I live in Australia so the spec may be different from where you are, but I have found ZigBee to work amazingly.

What specs should I look out for UPS
Reply in thread
This is absolutely the correct information. I sold UPSs for years and the general consensus is that if you want more than 5 to 10 minutes of power, then you want to go with an actual generator solution
Saying that, UPSs tend to be used in industrial environments to keep machinery running until the generator starts up and can accept the load.

I mean we use teams as our phone system, so this is just like taking the general phone calls.
Some of us don't get to leave work at the door all the time, and this just allows us to use teams like a phone without having to give out a personal number.

Games with good procedural generation?
Factorio has cool, and very customisable, procedurally generated maps. The ore distribution, quantity, biters, cliffs, water, all change game to game.

Games where an emulated console version outclasses the PC port?

Holy shit, I have not heard that name in many years. Definitely a +1 for reminding me of all the fun I used to have in this title

Do you like or dislike people in general? Why?

This exactly my feelings too. Keep treating people nicely, but you see enough shit every day to make you not like people in general

Achievement Hunting
If you don't care about doing it "yourself" there are guides you can follow that give you a seed and set of blueprints. These can pretty safely get you under 10 hours. Some say 5 but you won't be perfect.
I got down to about 20 hours myself then just used a guide for the achievement.

Smart-homes: The future, or harmful?
I've actually been going through this recently. For lighting look into a technology called zigbee or z-wave. They are different but findimentally the same idea.
Both create a mesh network of devices, so your smart switches will talk to each other, but they don't use WiFi. This does 2 things, firstly it keeps congestion off of your WiFi, and secondly these devices don't need internet access.
You will need to get a device to allow home assistant to connect to the mesh network, but these are simply a usb dongle.

What specs should I look out for UPS
Reply in thread
If you only need it to skip the power outage, I would look at something in the range of 800W to 1000W in an online ups.
This wattage should run your devices for 5 minutes or so, as you have quoted them. The online UPS will always run its load off on the battery, so there is no swap over time. Other types will be fine for a PC or normal electronics, but the hitch in power could cause a defect in the 3D print.

The "Stop Killing Games" Australian Petition is Live
This is an instant sign for me.
I just wish they would release the server source when done with a game. At least then someone could hack it to work.

The gunlance looks so fun in wilds. Flying around was great fun in rise though haha. I will miss it, but it will be good to get back to a slightly more grounded monster hunter.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Charge Blade | Weapon Overview
Man, this armour set looks so good.
Charge blade has been my main since 4U, and it's really interesting seeing some of the changes, especially with the recent videos from the Gamescom floor
