Ah, they did say Spotify.
The article and controversy are about Shopify, that’s where Kanye was selling his swastika shirt.

I cleaned my razors today

I soaked them in warm water with some dish soap, then used a soft bristle toothbrush to scrub the residue off.
Then I applied a dab of mineral oil to the ones with exposed threads.

I definitely overloaded my brush and had a bit of a hard time getting enough water into the lather. After a bit of work, though, it developed nicely.
I'm so glad it's the weekend, but somehow my day is full of responsibilities already. At least I smell great!
Happy Saturday y'all. ✌️

I get a good lather from the CF base as long as I remember to come in with a pretty dry brush. Otherwise, it tends to puff up on me pretty quickly.
A nice shave and another notch toward killing this tub of GTB. It's going to be a while yet.

Continuing my smush/sample tour with Mike's Hungarian Lavender. Another well-balanced and subtle scent that gave an excellent lather. I like Mike's.
This is my last shave with the S1. It's a wonderful brush, easily the softest badger knot I've used with the perfect amount of density. I'll be sad to see it go, but I'm glad I got the opportunity to use it for a bit.
Have a great day all.

Wednesday, February 19, 2025: BVWSC - Dragonsbeard
For this month's meeting of the Buena Vista Wetshaving Club we're shaving with Dragonsbeard from ETHOS.
Artisan notes:
It combines Authentic Agarwood Oil and Oud Resin with essential oils of East Indian Sandalwood, Amber, Tonka Bean Butter, Madagascar Vanilla Bean Infusion Oil, and White Rose Absolute.
I wouldn't call this a gourmand, as the oud was front and center to my nose. I did pick up on a little spiciness and vanilla, and maybe a hint of rose. It's a very complex scent that I thoroughly enjoyed. The base also gave an excellent lather without too much effort.
Thanks for the smush @[email protected]!

Wednesday, December 25, 2024: Christmas Shave
This morning, I had an excellent Christmas shave. Vespers is a fantastic scent for the season. I'm definitely curious how the splash/frag complements the soap.
Merry Christmas and a happy first night of Hannukah to all who celebrate. Now off for some good food and family time.

I had two promising job interviews this week, both of which seem likely to give me an offer next week!
Feels good. When I was first transitioning into this industry (software development), it was much more difficult to land interviews and gain traction. It’s been way easier this time around.

We're doing a passaround of this S1 silvertip brush. It got to me yesterday morning after I'd shaved, so this is my first go. All I can say is damn, this thing is just about perfect. The knot has ridiculously soft tips, basically perfect density (not too much, not too little), and produced an excellent lather.
This was also my first shave with Elysian "Green Fig" (smush graciously provided by u/socialkittielynx), which was also lovely. Not overly sweet, with a pleasant green woody brightness that felt perfect for a stormy spring morning. The base was also dead simple to lather, taking as much water as I wanted to give it. I'll probably pick up a tub of Elysian at some point, very impressed. It combined really well with DFTR.
Have a great Sunday!

Thursday, December 26, 2024: Boxing Day
On theme with GTB, this is easily my lowest soap, though I probably still have 20+ shaves left. It's the only soap where I can see the bottom of the tub, though.
I'm lying low today and recovering from the festivities. I'm very glad I won't have to be back at work until the new year.
Have a great day y'all.

An excellent shave with minimal irritation. I really love the scent and performance of SSL.
I'm still not sure about this knot. It definitely doesn't immediately impress me like the Quartermoon did. It's more difficult to splay, which I guess means it has more backbone? I did set it about as high as I could to hopefully minimize this.
Either way, the bristles are plenty soft. Feels much nicer than the Yaqi synthetic I was using previously.
Have a great Friday y'all!

First shave with my new-to-me MMOC went pretty well. It certainly feels more aggressive than my other GEM, a first-gen Clog-Pruf.
I was slightly sloppy around my chin and got a couple of weepers. I think I just need to slow down a bit more and focus on my angle.
Good results overall though. It's an impressive little razor.

Another vote for Stirling. Deep Blue Sea is a great scent to start a sunny morning, and the Omega brush always whips up an excellent lather with this base.

Kicking off AA with a new blade and continuing to use what I’ve already been using for a week. I’m on a trip for another 10 days-ish, so AA started a little early for me.
Simple, easy, and close.
Tip of the hat to u/EldrormR for blessing the Master Quest and letting me steal content from his previous posts.

Theme justification: Myself, u/BossHoggins10, u/djundjila, and u/sahenders all shaved with SSL.
In fact @[email protected] and I used essentially the same setup. CF TI Legacy, Gillette Silver Blue blades, uncoined RDC handles with synth knots, and SSL. I don't own the SSL frag, so I had to go with something else instead.
Daily challenge: It isn't easy to single out just a few folks to thank; the entire community has been, for the most part, extremely friendly and welcoming since I wandered in.
Thanks to @[email protected] and u/KerblimeySkal for answering many questions and always being down to screw around on discord.
Thanks to @[email protected] for running sub.wetshaving.social, creating SDS, and just being a friendly guy.
Thanks u/JoboozeRum for many samples, smushes, much shit talk on discord.
Thanks to @[email protected] for everything you do for this community and for the games.
Thanks @[email protected] and @[email protected] for your vast straight and sharpening knowledge. You're both a great source of guidance for the sub.
Thanks u/raymoonie for running a great podcast. I think the community really appreciates it.
Thanks u/socialkittielynx for swapping smushes and nerding out on scents with me.
Thanks to @[email protected] for enabling me by finding and cleaning up such nice vintage razors.
Thanks u/frankieIVfinge for trying to help me find the perfect anise.
Thanks to all of you for helping make this place such a great community. There truly are too many to thank individually!
And a special thanks to the sub.wetshaving.social community. ❤️
$FOF - SSL works very nicely with the petit grain, lavender, rosemary, thyme, and lemon of Jean Marie Farina EdC. The spiciness of SSL softens really nicely with the herbs in the frag.
I love this fragrance, I just wish it lasted for longer. Though it's hard to complain at such a reasonable price.
$SELFCARE - I pulled a muscle in my back this morning while doing a sprint workout. Instead of toughing it out and staying at the office all day, I left early and spent the afternoon working from home in bed with my cats. :)
