Not really a shitpost but I’m really enjoying lemmy

I was super sceptical about the whole fed thing, but now we have apps (Memmy!!) it’s exactly like Reddit more or less.

Yeah it’s really nice to know people will see and reply to your shit.

I’ve also noticed the filtering options seem better recently? Hot used to be shitty and active gave too much hours old stuff (but good to catch anything you missed)

Found this under hot, so I’m rewiring my consumption to sim my engagement to the newish posts here.

Shit rocks, fuxk that other place. Who needs em!

Should we change app names?

Wefwef is kinda silly but it has the SEO for it, nothing else on the net will not be the app right?

If I googled voyager I’m picturing some Star Trek results n other random shit (thinking of new people googling or searching the App Store)

Phoebus is cool, but might run into generic SEO and like Tildes……’howd ya say it IRL? Feeebus?? Foe-bus’

Subscriptions (appriciation)

I'm desperate for any of these apps to have auto-mark-as-read once you've scrolled past it on your phone, like Apollo. I'll pop open comments if i'm interested. But I wanna see pics/read comments and not see the same thread again.

I'm happy I can at least mark things as read by looking at a pic, opening comments or upvoting but yeah...auto-read will be amazing and bring my consumption level to Apollo levels.

edit: of course, amazed by the progress of all developers in such a short time.

wefwef has become my favorite app already!

I prefer Memmy right now but wefwef is just as awesome.

One major thing I’d like is tapping the top bar to return to the top after scrolling down.

One minor, which no app has yet is auto marking as read as you scroll past posts (no upvoting, no image opening or opening comments).

Just pure, lazy scrolling like Apollo

A vast majority of Lemmy users are gonna have cakeday in the summer for a while

When all this API shit started kicking off I didn't really like the look of lemmy, but now it looks like the best. KBin was fun for a bit but felt kind of chaotic, plus not having posts vanish after upvoting/viewing the comments was a death sentene for me. The other alternatives are just shit IMO.

Plus looks like a lot of app devs are lemmyheads, Memmy has been great after installing it today. There's no way i'm using the reddit app post June so yea...Lemmy all the way, cause everything else blows for content consumption.

4 days before reddit's 3rd party app shutdown, Lemmy daily active users has skyrocketed 1400% this month

Didn't initially like the look of lemmy and tried Kbin, but kbin randomly was slow and has no way to hide posts. Lemmy seems snappier and more concise...hoping to find some ability to hide content if you upvote it. I love clearing my feeds up once i've seen content once.

edit: I see there's a hide read option in settings! What constitutes a read post on a desktop PC? Opening comments? simply scrolling past it? Interesting...

edit 2: ohhhh shit, opening comments AND it hides on upvote - fuck yes, well i'm here to stay then.

Cheers!

You know what’s great about this place?

Welcome to the fed guys. Out of interest, how do you guys consume content? This big app war made gave awareness of how bad reddit was for you guys, so i'm just interested in learning.

Are you able to have text posts be read out to you and such? Glad you have the tools here to enjoy the content! Welcome.

Its been one day without Reddit

I was a somewhat massive lurker on reddit, I didn't bother engaging much because I knew 60% of the time the reply would be snippy, even if my post wouldn't be remotely combative. So over the years I just stopped bothering mostly.

My inbox has kicked off more here in the last week than probably the last 365 days on reddit. It's really wholesome, for lack of a better term.

All it takes if you commenting, to fire off more comments just like now. It's good shit!

Its been one day without Reddit

Nice OP!

Same here, if anything this whole thing has done me a favour. Many times the past year i've considered giving up reddit. I tend to scroll reddit when I play with the dog after walkies, and the amount of time my brain says 'why you do this shit?' as I scroll past nothing, looking at comment chains of constant bickering. Why am I scrolling pasts hundreds of pointless comments, meandering bad takes, puns, the time wasted...for what gain? It was kinda an addiction I guess.

The first day has been great tbh, Memmy feels good despite the instance' slowness. The Hot filter is pretty good for catching newISH posts, or light comment posts which i've been tagging onto.

It really feels like old school forum days, and it's been really awesome to have my inbox popping off with replies. What's the point of lots of comments like a big reddit thread when no one replies or even sees your comment? Really looking back, it was just pissing in the wind.

Or if you did get a reply over on pigboycity, it would be some massive drangus trying to start a fight. Just ugh. I deleted my posts and account yesterday, now reddits just gonna be my suffix for google searches when I need something (until the fed starts getting indexed over the coming months/years).

I also really like the look here. old.reddit to me always looked shit from a UI standpoint (Despite being massively better than New, of course). lemmy.world just looks concise without being overwhelming. I'm excited to see growth and engage with real people again just like the old days.

Thoughts on BattleBit Remastered?

I really enjoy it for what it is, but I feel like they need to refine the overall experience.

People can jump through windows and spray you, yet the ttk is super low, slow reloads and gunplay is a mixed bag when it comes to mechanics (single fire over auto, bipods don’t help at al).

I’ll give it a massive benefit of the doubt due to pricing and oh, yeah…it’s made with love by three people.

The party system is amazing and allows my friends and I to be dragged into a game in mere seconds. Worth it alone for that tbh.
