MAGA melts down over ‘WOKE MARXIST POPE’ who is a ‘Never Trumper liberal’

Reply in thread

They should cut to the chase and call Jesus a Marxist.

Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. Luke 12:33

Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” Mark 10:21

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?  When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?  When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:34-40

thrift plane

https://www.forbes.com/sites/jeremybogaisky/2025/05/14/qatar-747-trump/

The royals have failed to sell the plane, which was put on the market in 2020, according to an archived listing. Giving it away could save Qatar’s rulers a big chunk of change on maintenance and storage costs, aviation experts told Forbes. Making Trump happy would be an added bonus.

When the plane was bought in 2012, its list price was $367 million, not including the interior, which took three years to complete and likely cost tens of millions of dollars.

The 2020 sales brochure noted that the plane was due for a landing gear overhaul in 2024 and a 12-year check in 2027. A check in which the airplane and engines are taken apart, typically carried out every six to 12 years, can take months to complete and cost millions of dollars.

The plane would need to be stripped down and swept for bugs. Then, unless the administration is willing to accept the risks of lighter security, it would need to be built up to the Air Force’s requirements to serve as an airborne command center, with encrypted communications systems, shielding to protect the electronics from the effects of a nuclear blast and defenses against missiles.

It would take at least five years starting again from scratch, Aboulafia estimates, unless security requirements were relaxed.

Briefly, Qatar has been trying to offload this plane since 2020 but the market is extremely illiquid since its a massive gas guzzler and everyone is moving towards smaller, leaner air travel. Boeing has a couple planes intended to be for Air Force One in the pipeline but Trump is frustrated that they will be delayed to 2028. Cue Qatar seeing the opportunity curry favor with Trump by giving away their outdated junk (which they can't find a buyer for) which costs millions in storage and maintenance fees.

Dems finally did something!

This is what happens when you don't understand the 'why' behind being more inclusive and instead apply it opportunistically to concentrate power.

The Democratic party has a hollow husk of virtue signallers at its core. Let's hope a new generation, one that truly means what they say, can rise above their failures.

"Normaize This Reaction" (Art by Cellspex)

The one and only time I've done consulting for a pharmaceutical company, I was presented with an AI generated ad for a drug. They kept asking what I liked about the image and the only acceptable response was how are you all finding ways to make medicine more impersonable than it already is

A public office should not be promoting a private enterprise. That's not what tax dollars are for. Musk can pay for marketing and advertising like the rest of his competitors do.

Hopefully other nations see this cronyism and tell the US administration to stuff it.

She hoped Trump would revive her farm. Now she worries his policies could bankrupt it.

Reply in thread

People romanticize farming because it was the basis of society and its economy 100 years ago. Agriculture was key to human survival for millenia before that.

In our increasingly tech driven lives, there's something pure about your work being dedicated to cultivating the earth and bringing sustenance to people.

But there are modern US farm owners that harken the image of plantation owners during America's chattel slavery era. Exploiting undocumented workers with undignified working conditions and paying them insufficiently in exchange for irreversibly wearing down their bodies.

He shared this like it was a win

Mark Carney was very clear in saying any revenue from tariffs will be used to help anyone whose employment is affected by them in Canada. In America, this would be dismissed as socialism.

Trump has stated no clear intention for tariff revenues in the US. Probably subsidies to his cronies and some type of scheme to enrich himself.

Paid leave for new mothers

In the US, federal law allows women 3 months off after childbirth, after which infants are shipped to daycare.

This is unpaid leave that allows you to keep your benefits. Some states augment that with pay and some "benevolent" corporations will offer more pay or time.

State supported paternity leave does not exist.

Research shows that isolating men from children leads to poor modulation of testosterone resulting in more aggression and less empathy.

Research also shows that lack of mother child bonding in early development creates men like JD Vance.

Policy shapes biology which shapes culture which shapes policy. A vicious cycle that can only be broken once recognized.

There was always rot in America's foundation of which most of the world and I hope Americans were well aware.

Canada's servicemen and women died as your brothers and sisters when the US invoked article 5 of NATO in response to the 9/11 attacks.

This is a betrayal that won't soon be forgotten.

Turns out half of the country just desperately wants to be on the wrong side of every issue

Americans largely did not see WW2 as 'their' war. They were content with sitting on the sideline and profiting off of it immensely until instigated.

Profiting off of WW2 is what allowed for US ascension to its position today. Its part of why profiting off of a military industrial complex is so deeply entrenched into its cultural ethos. Selling weapons and promoting conflict is how the US got to where it is, so why would it stop now?

Which CEOs are actually worth keeping around?

Bill Gates' net worth has grown substantially despite his philanthropy, rising from $126.8 billion in early 2023 to $156 billion in December 2024.

Regarding COVID-19 vaccines, Gates actively opposed patent waivers and influenced Oxford University to privatize its vaccine through AstraZeneca rather than keep it open-source. He pushed for maintaining intellectual property rights through COVAX, despite public funding supporting vaccine development.

Not a good guy by any metric.

[Video] Democrat leader Chuck Shumer: "Of course we say it's our land, the Torah says it. But they [Palestinians] don't believe in the Torah. So, that's the reason there is not peace."

Yeah Hamas is kind of irrelevant here. Palestinians were living on that land and then some folk showed up and said "sorry our book says we're supposed to be here, please leave"

Its the equivalent of someone trying to claim your seat at the theatre halfway into the movie and the proof they show you is something they've scribbled on a napkin. It would not fly for most people.

I understand it's essentially settler-colonialism in practice, which is foundational to modern western civilization. But that doesn't make it right.

Seeing more and more of this domestically.

People are recognizing that their relationship with their employer is exploitative and are trying to return that energy.

I've worked with a few people recently that clearly were holding multiple jobs or were much more focussed on their side hustle.

Symptom of a bigger issue in my opinion.

Could it have been Jesus that said "Those who live by the free market shall die by the free market?"

I like how his expression of inspiration / passion is destructive (running through a wall). It's very on brand.
