Over 10 Years After It Was Announced, Star Citizen’s Single-Player Squadron 42 Is ‘Feature Complete’ - IGN

I can tell you why I care. Maybe you don't care but I'll tell you anyway. Because this sort of bullshit people lap up blindly and let the industry set it as a new standard. Can we milk users for in-game ships for a game that doesn't exist for a decade? Do I want that for the future of gaming? Pay now for the upcoming necromancer in the upcoming Diablo 6 that's been in the making for 10 years! This funding model is predatory and the game is already primed to be soaked through with Eve-level of toxicity.

You should care. It's your gaming too.

Before reeeeeee, note that I don't attack anyone's enjoyment of the "game".

What happened to Airbnb?

This type of rhetoric seems to always point at "oh but it's something else that's the problem, leave my airbnbs alone there are too few of them"

https://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2021/ph/bgrd/backgroundfile-166717.pdf read some actual studies and see how much of the real estate stock is held by short term rentals and tell us about how those few properties have low impact on property prices. I'd love to see what kind of impact Toronto would have if those 9100 dwellings would be available to Torontonians. That's about 56 dense, mid rise apartment buildings of housing.

Sorry, but the financialization of housing is a real issue that needs to get addressed.

Because you're saying "don't worry about the already built housing people sit on for short term rentals, those don't count" they do count, there are a lot of them. How long would it take to build 9100 units in Toronto vs immediately dumpstering the airbnbs and forcing sale or long term rentals. There's a part of the issue that you just might not be aware of, it's the fucking vacant homes that sit there empty, making loads of cash during busy season.

You're right, building more is good, but without bans on short term rentals and proper regulations around multi home ownership we're just gonna build more units for landlords.

Canada's surging cost of living fuels reverse immigration

Iceland is in their own dumpster fire with housing. You're better off in continental Europe if you can get a visa. You also have the New Zealand working holiday option, which is a good time. I toyed with Iceland and have close friends there, it's rough to get housing, cost of living is expensive because everything is shipped in.

Reminder that starfield is playable and enjoyable, with decent performance and a complete game with a shitload of missions. Can Starfield be better? Yeah, and I think it probably will be with a bit if time. Is the space combat a little bit dogshit with really nice audio design? Yeah, it sure is. Is it actually out, playable, with boarding and ship building? Yep, sure seems like it.

I don't even know why you threw this example out there for a single player game that's pretty much what everyone expected from a AAA studio in the current "optimize every dev hour per dollar" bottom line focused game dev style.
