We’ve got movie sign! Mike and The Bots are back aboard the Satellite of Love AND back in movie theaters this fall!
The beloved crew from the original run of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and RiffTrax Live returns for The RiffTrax Experiments, and the premiere episode is debuting in theaters! Evil Pearl Forrester has once again captured Mike, Crow T. Robot, and Tom Servo and is forcing them to watch bad movies.
This time they’ll be subjected to Sting of Death, a 1960s monster movie so cheesy it can be used to bait mouse traps. An evil jellyfish monster is killing women in the swamps of Florida. It has a garbage bag for a head and scuba fins for feet and is nowhere near the least dignified performance in the movie.
There’s rubber monster suits, go-go dancing, and of course, hundreds of hilarious riffs. Join us for Mystery Science Theater 3000: The RiffTrax Experiments in the not-too-distant future! Or, to be more specific, on September 9th with an encore showing on September 13th.
Back in 2012 Diamond Select Toys released a highly-detailed 8-inch This Island Earth Metaluna Mutant action figure that comes with his own interocitor. (Like, who doesn't have an interocitor?) I'd been keeping an eye on evilBay for one to come up at a not-so-stupid price, and eventually lucked out and snagged one.
As manufactured, the interocitor has a sticker on its screen depicting the pattern of curvy lines seen once or twice in the film. This sticker is surprisingly chintzy and easy to pull off, with a little gentle encouragement from an xacto knife under the corners.
Meanwhile, I'd grabbed some screenshots from MST3K: The Movie of our beloved Dr. Forrester in various sizes, and had them printed up cheaply at my local pharmacy/photo processor where you can upload any images you want. These are 6x4" prints with matte finish.
Because I was just eyeballing things, most of these ended up with Dr. F's head too big for the screen. The one that fit perfectly was from the scene in which he's zapping Mike and the bots from the interocitor in Servo's room. Here's the cropped screenshot I used.
As it turns out I didn't even have to use any glue or tape to stick the new Dr. F. pic in place, as the adhesive left behind on the toy by the peeled-off sticker does the job perfectly by itself.

A peaceful weekend in a cabin in the woods is interrupted when a lumbering, grunting, brute of a creature arrives. And then right after George Kennedy shows up, he gets attacked by Bigfoot!
Yes, some sort of Ape Type Thing is roaming the forest ripping off both electronic equipment and heads. What does a sasquatch want with a vintage tube amp? Do cryptids possess the same tendencies as humans where they hit their forties and all of a sudden need to drop five figures on a stereo system to appreciate the production on Aja?
Look, we could tell you why he wants it, but A) it sounds so preposterous that you’d just think we made it up and B) we’ve seen it a dozen times and are still not certain it’s real. There’s a decent chance someone just spliced a different movie onto the last fifteen minutes of this one. Or maybe they passed the script around The Naked Clone style and the last person just decided to go off the rails.
If your Bigfoot/George Kennedy movie is gonna go off the rails, who better to have with you than Mike, Kevin, and Bill!

The man, the myth, the living legend, Sandy Frank was born on this day in 1929. Famous (to us) for bringing many, many, maaanyyy previously obscure and strange films to television, including the Gamera movies. Which they straight up used to just show on TV, without explanation or apology.
Even as late as 2011, Frank was wheeling and dealing, signing agreements with studios like The Asylum. Hoo-boy.
For lovers of the strange and obscure, Frank certainly deserves a big thank-you for all of his work. Without him, we wouldn't have nine of the most beloved episodes of the "classic era" of MST3K.
And I guess he also produced stuff like Name That Tune and The Dating Game, but who ever heard of those?

It’s time for the Boggy Creek Cinematic Universe to expand with Return to Boggy Creek! You wouldn’t think a rich film series could be built out of a swampy waterway in Arkansas and some kind of out-of-focus sasquatch guy, and you’d be right!

Unfortunately, on June 30, 2026 the Gizmoplex apps on platforms such as Roku, AppleTV, Android, and FireTV will cease operations, with the Gizmoplex website shutting down on September 30, 2026. We know this platform has meant a lot to many of you — it was built for and by this community — so we don't share this news lightly.
What this means is that if you’d like to continue to have access to content you may have purchased on the Gizmoplex, you should download it to a personal drive well in advance of the September 30th website closure. More instructions on how to do so are available HERE. We have significantly reduced the prices on Season 13 and past livestream events, so if you haven’t had a chance to purchase them, now is the time to add them to your collection.
The good news is that while the Gizmoplex may be no more, MST3K isn't going anywhere. The show remains widely accessible, with its own 24/7 channel, on-demand episodes across many streaming platforms, as well as on the FilmRise app (free with ads), and via Shout! TV on Prime Video and Roku for ad-free viewing.
