THE FUTURE OF THE COMMUNITY [Announcement]

Just an update for you all, regarding both of my moderated communities.

Currently I aim to keep the community alive and uphold my current moderation duties. You will still see uploads from me if I find anything particularly interesting that I would like to share. That being said I will not be keeping a strict schedule of posting, meaning there may be times you might not hear from me. I will still aim to react to and engage with all content posted here from now on. If the community sees an increase in engagement further down the line, then I may resume my regular (heh) posting.

I really appreciate all those who have posted and/or commented on posts. You all have helped shape this place into something pretty neat, a nice little corner of the internet, if you will. I especially appreciate the help of @[email protected] who provided unfaltering support over the past year or so, going as far as to showing me up in the process ;) .

I hope this place will continue to grow steadily over time, and as I've mentioned, I'm not going anywhere, just taking a break from regular posting. I apologise to those who enjoy the regular contributions, the motivation to encourage engagement just isn't there any more. Thanks for a couple great years of top-tier metal and discussions!

And wipe that smirk off your face, I ain't retirin'! This madman ain't going anywhere! I'll see you wherever there's many 0s being played in fast succession! 馃

NOTICE FOR NEW SUBSCRIBERS

First of all, welcome!

If you haven't already, please read the sidebar for the rules etc. If possible, alongside posting a generic YouTube or Bandcamp link to a song, if you could post links to other services you use (such as Spotify) then it makes it easier for people to listen on their preferred platform. This isn't essential, but I think it makes it easier for everyone to access the music and listen the way they want to.

An alternate post structure myself and @[email protected] use, which I think looks the nicest, uses the image post format (with the album cover as the image) and links to the relevant platforms at the bottom of the text body. See one of my posts for reference. Again, not essential, just helps keep things uniform.

And if you want to be a real saint, you could remove unnecessary parameters from links 馃槈 (though I don't expect everyone to go to that much trouble).

Enjoy some good fucking music! 馃

Condition Critical - Wretched Aggression

According to Metal Archives, this band has been named "Demolition Hammer Jr." Now with a name like that invoked these guys have some rather large shoes to fill. Immediately you can hear it in the bass and drums - that same punishing pounding and thumping, but the guitars do not share the exact same metal chainsaw edge. Which is great in my opinion! Leaves room to grow and change. They also share a similar space with Warbringer, with their death metal tinge. Members have been in (or still are in) Lich King, Solstice, and Malevolent Creation, so their extreme metal experience carries across projects.

Gonna link the opening track, as it perfectly encapsulates the rest of the album to come.

This band is definitely one to follow as this is their third LP and after my post here, I'll be listening to the prior two in my own time, probably make another upload on them in like a month or so I guess.

Band with the Screaming Brain - SHRED

Crossover thrash from a usually ska/punk outfit, singing about a comic book character pun, in a totally non-serious way. And it's less than two minutes long lol.

I actually personally know the bassist performing on this particular track and he was excited to show me this so I just had to share here. Very underground and I was surprised they're on Tidal.

Tidal, Bandcamp with a previous release, not on RateYourMusic :/, and lol if you think they're on Metal Archives

Agent Steel - The Day At Guyana

First post in a long ass while. Just hadn't been feeling it before, after so much new music. Hard to truly connect with it when, yea - this style of music is my jam but there was just so much of it. But now reconnecting slowly; felt like posting again.

Instrumental from one of the best classic speed metal acts out there. Doesn't break any new ground but I love it all the same. The melodies and bass lines in the middle of the track are always stuck in my head, as well as the uplifting feeling the whole thing gives me.

Don't get used to seeing my posts all the time like before, but I haven't forgotten this place exists. Gonna also use this opportunity to link my instrumental playlist on Tidal. Rock on my dudes.

Tidal, Bandcamp to purchase this album in CD format, RateYourMusic, Encyclopaedia Metallum

Exodus - Goliath

The new record by Exodus. Still they have the best guitar sound in thrash metal in my opinion.

However Exodus have done better than this collection of new songs. IMO it's a solid recording but it misses the last bit of spicyness. There's just one step missing to insanity. And this insanity is what makes brilliant Exodus albums special to me.

Maybe it's because Zetro left once again?

Void - Forbidden Morals

Another classic thrash revival band from California. This is their second album released in August of last year and it slipped under my radar till the title track appeared in my daily recommended, which is what I'll be linking today.

Sounds like these dudes mixed together the sounds/styles of Destruction, Forbidden, Annihilator and Testament. Makes for a technical, groovy, thrashing good time. The rest of the album is hit or miss for me, but the title track has a permanent spot in the ol' miles-long playlist now.\m/

Sarcazm - Motorbreath

Largely underground and unknown Swedish thrash metal band that existed at some point in the 90's. As far as I can see, the only notable release was this cover of Metallica's Motorbreath lol. It's a decent cover, got a small tinge of death metal in there, and the attitude and speed is definitely on point. Not bad over all; ignore the tink tink tink of certain parts where the drums do a filler lmao.

Messiah - Sikhote Alin

The opener of Messiah鈥檚 last album. I have to admit that I had forgotten that band until I saw them live a couple of weeks ago. They did a good job and appeared to be very nice guys with a maniac on the bass guitar.

I like their sway between thrash and death metal and their old school sound. This track maybe does not quite represent that, as it鈥檚 quite modern to me, however I like it.
