What value did you get from Reddit that you hope to realize or expand upon here?
Reddit and it's users are good at hyperfixating on a topic and building a community around said topic, with different skill levels. Therefore if you want to also participate, you can simply look up a subreddit for that topic and nearly instantly get answers to your questions and tips on how to start.

Its been one day without Reddit
I moved over here a while ago. Doing great so far, loving the community, though I'm doing a lot of lurking at the moment cause I have to keep reinstalling my app for testing.
Currently using thunder, working on contributing to the project cause I liked the early alpha so much. New updates come frequently, looks nice, functions great, cross platform.

What Android app should I use to browse Lemmy?
I use Thunder. Actively being developed, tons of new features coming every few days. I get an update almost every day. Works great, looks great.

What kind of data do Lemmy instances store about their users?
I have yet to go through it all myself but from what I've seen of the Lemmy code it seems pretty straight forward. I doubt anything is being tracked other than what is required. Obviously your IP has to be taken down so they can route traffic to you. Username and all info you put on your profile or post. List of liked/disliked posts, subscribed or blocked communities and people, perhaps metadata of any photos or videos you upload, the package name for whatever mobile app you use, etc.
All the code is available on GitHub for you to check out if you'd like, 80% of it is written in Rust. But I am looking through it myself to see what kind of privacy I can expect from Lemmy. It's already ahead of Reddit though, where I couldn't view the source code and just had to trust what the company said.

What do you use the rotary encoders for?
Left Knob: Volume Up/Down Click to Mute
Right Knob: Scroll up/Down Click to Refresh
In GIMP, Right Knob scrolls in and out
In Kdenlive, Right Knob scrolls timeline left and right
In Game, Right Knob alt+tabs to swap between game and discord for sending messages, cause the in game UI sucks and is slow.

While true, just leave your instance in that case. I left lemmy.ml cause the owner was reportedly removing and editing posts that don't align with his political beliefs. He can do whatever the fuck he wants over there, I'm leaving. And Instances where nobody wants to hang around will die or fade into obscurity. It's self moderating in a way based on the very nature of how Lemmy works.
In the case of reddit, I would even return, but not with the current CEO. He will need to be replaced entirely. There are concerning rumors that he may be a pedophile based on his moderation work on /r/Jailbait and some gross tweets he made in 2010. I am unwilling to contribute in any way to a platform that may be run by a pedophile. Clear your name with hard evidence, which you can't, or get a new CEO. I've also got several friends who have nuked and deleted their accounts over this as well.

What's the legality of copy/pasting or rewording interesting guides and resource posts from Reddit?
If it's on Reddit and visible via Google search, it's public information. Posts online generally do not have any sort of ownership or protections legally.
I could copy your post and repost it somewhere else, I could even claim it as my own post and idea, with zero legal ramifications. Though taking credit for it would make me a dick. I'd just credit the original user. Even if it's just "crosspost from Reddit user /u/insertUsername"

Is there something like launchers for windows?
Reply in thread
I lot of people think they rely on Windows programs when they would be perfectly fine using a Linux alternative.
Always funny to me that Windows seems to be this OS that you can't escape from cause everything requires Windows to run. But nobody brings up that issue when you talk about MacOS and having to find alternative apps when switching there

Aw why no teeth? My cat doesn't have teeth either, she had a really rare allergy to the plaque her own teeth creates, so she was constantly in pain. Had to take em all out.

When WSL2 first came out, some losers on /g/ were cheering that it would "make Linux obsolete". Four years later, I think it's safe to say they were kinda missing the point.
Linux is Linux.
WSL is Bill Gates' wet fart of an OS running Linux.
Definitely not the same thing.

I spent an entire day making a Bibble meme generator. I may have gone too far in a few places.
Woah, AHK in the wild. I almost never meet people who know AHK which is surprising cause...it's so fuckin easy and so well documented. Literal children could learn it, I think everyone should.

This federated thing is pretty great, actually.

He's a communist, which is fine, though they were censoring posts and comments that were anti-communist/anti-China. Believe in what you want to, but censorship is generally just bad.

Interesting. I've been running Arch/KDE for years and never saw that bug. I use Arch on almost everything.
Steam Deck comes with kinda-Arch, I use Arch for work now, I use it on my gaming PC. The only thing that doesn't run it is my home server because it sits in a corner and doesn't need bleeding edge updates or the AUR.

How would you explain to a new user how Lemmy works?
You know how in older games, the community runs the multiplayer servers because the original company was either shit or shut down the servers?
Reddit is like the original company. Lemmy is like the user ran servers. It's basically the same thing as reddit, but we host it instead of them, which puts us in control over which "servers" we join, and we can choose which ones we like based on the rules.

Jerboa is from the owner (or mod, idc) of lemmy.ml who recently have been censoring posts that don't align with their communist beliefs. Regardless of what you believe, censorship is bad. And I don't trust that there won't be some fuckery with Jerboa, whether now or later down the line, as the developer has already shown he not afraid to censor content.
I use Thunder. Actually working on getting my dev env setup for it so I can contribute, it's still in progress but it's at a point now where it's usable as more than just a reader.

Absolutely. It was terrifying for me and not even the vets were able to give any real advice.
So first off, you may feel awful for "taking away all her teeth". Don't. Understand that right now she is in pain, and you are helping her. Second, She's gonna have to wear a cone to prevent scratching at the gums, and she's gonna have to eat all wet food at least until she heals. You may see some drool come out with some blood, don't be alarmed. She will bleed a little bit until it's fully healed. She's gonna be drowsy and loopy for the first few days cause the pain killers they give them are very strong, plus you'll have medicine you'll have to administer as well but don't worry, the pain killers they will have her on will allow you to give her the meds, even forcefully, without much pain at all.
After she's a bit better you'll notice she's gonna be a lot happier, less lethargic. The other thing I observed but I don't know if it's common is my cat became very attached to me, very suddenly, I became her favorite thing in the world.
After the cone is off if you wanna take some dry food and crush it up just a little bit, slightly more manageable bits, and mix it with wet food, that helps transition back to dry food. Then you can move to mixing crushed up dry food with a bit of water to soften it up and make it easier to swallow, and then after a while if they wanna dry full dry food I would say just spray it with some water from a bottle to again make it easier to swallow. But wet food, if you don't use it regularly, will become a regular thing. I feed my cat wet food still about 2-3 times per week, cans are about 75 cents. My cat, however, is a monster of some kind and not only prefers dry food, but she refuses to eat it if I spray it with water...she just eats it dry. So it is possible for cats to eat dry food without teeth, though id recommend trying to see if they'll eat it with water sprayed on it first. Ultimately if you use wet food this isn't an issue.
EDIT: ALMOST FORGOT: Especially if this cat is already used to you, get a blanket that you don't mind a possible drop or two of blood to get on and make it smell like you before the cat gets home. Then grab a cat den, kennel, any sort of moderately tight enclosed but still comfortable space and place the blanket in there. They may be terrified after the surgery, and their senses are gonna be a bit out of whack, natural instincts are to find a dark place to hide. If they can find one that smells like you, they'll probably be more comfortable there.
Edit 2: if you have any specific questions please feel free to ask and I'll do the best I can to answer based on my experience, but keep in mind I am not a doctor or a vet.
