There is no quiet part any more. The racism is loud and clear. Quotes from the "comedian" speaker before Trump at his Madison Square Garden Rally

and yet, EU is preparing for the possibilty of trump win as the race is head to head and very tight. after months of clearly open racism, bigotry, hatred and fascism.

as an european, looking at millions of voters still not seeing a problem in that man, still giving his administration a vote, seems horrifying.

this is not a question of "racist joker" or demented trump, this is clearly a masks off of millions of people who cheers to this and will give it a vote.

Isaac Asimov back in the 80ties: "There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."

it is a problem in europe too. all new german SUVs, and many others, have front beams around the height of others drivers eyes so they blare right into internal rearview mirror, car is lit like ufo is here to take us, and when meeting those cars coming from opposite direction, it's again at the height of eyes to burn the retinas. the regulation of headlights is obviously fucked.

Is there really no viable alternative for Photoshop on Linux?

Reply in thread

habit and practice. op himself said he believes gimp can do wonders, but he's migrating from adobe and is accustomed to photoshop's shortcuts, ui and workflow.

imho, people go wrong expecting same experience in different application. yes, gimp works very differently but when migrating, one should count on different ui and logic. afterall, ps also have learning curve in the start and none complains.

it's similar to users migrating from windows to linux, expecting same windows ui and workflow, blaming linux bad.

US politics affects whole world. their current elections in November could end up pretty much bad, and will affect the rest of the world. large part of EU public oppinon, local elections, and politics today, is under US influence. it is important how the US will be shaped in next four years, because it will affect rest of us.

What is an event that altered you in some way?

several years ago main road on my way to work was closed for a month. alternative routes was bad and worse, so i reluctantly ditched car and tried cycling instead because cycling route was okay, hoping i will somehow handle that one month.

quickly realized i'm rather enjoying cycling, month passed and i didn't event thought about getting back in a car. i'm cycling ever since. commuting to and from work, cycling recreatively, doing 100km rides all around the area and the country, joined a club, enjoying every bit of cycling which makes me happy.

the road maintenance overall changed me, led me to find something that fullfills me, breaks down the stress, make me happy, change my mindset and made me be more active.

conservatives like to squeek "that's against god's will" but when conservative needs a heart stent or pacemaker to keep him alive, then god's will is not an issue. when conservative needs a kidney transplant, cancer treatment, or even glasses - there's no questioning against how god created their bodies.

as always, there's no biblical preachings when their asses and their life comfort are in question.

it's the other way around. that shitty gummy piece of crap on ethernet cables is annoying as fuck, and i even haven't had to plug it into network equipement that can be reset with it. but to reach the connector tooth under it often turns into a fight with gummy shitty 'protector' so i not once reached for scissors and cut that shit away.

Fuck nvidia.

first thing i faced while distrohopping before i settle with fedora, is the instability of nvidia on linux.

it was short path to decision to spare myself of waiting for driver fixes, googling for driver statuses, waiting, posting questions, messing around, switching this and that in hope for better stability, getting frustrated in the end because wherever i search for fixes, there were posts about same problems with same subject: nvidia.

stable system throughout distro/kernel/driver/system updates is hugely more valuable than having GTX Ti 90000 inside my system and it was a very short bye bye.

since i ditched nvidia card and went for amd one, my system just works, it's been years, I've never looked back and very honestly, i couldn't care less about never ending stubborn struggle with nvidia.
