Is CompTIA Sec+ really that hard?

Is this your first CompTIA cert? I took my Sec+ the same year that I did A+ and Net+ and from what I remember there was a lot of overlap. In my opinion, Sec+ was the easiest out of the three so if you’ve passed the others then you’re definitely capable of doing it.

That being said, I got mine in 2010 soooo 🤷

It's time to dump Roku

Instead of a Roku Stick, you could use the Google TV Streamer or Apple TV 4K…..…..Amazon's Fire devices are also an option, but I figure anyone with moral qualms against Fox may have similar issues with anything tied to Jeff Bezos.

I got a kick out of the article recommending Google and Apple like they’re the ethical option against Amazon here. Any sane person with moral qualms against Bezos will have plenty about Google and Apple too, so let’s not pretend that any of them are anything less than evil.

One of the most detrimental things to a productive society is when people think their actions don't make a difference

Earlier today I was thinking about a conversation that I had a few weeks ago about Tesla. I mentioned that I would love to have one but I'd never consider buying one while Elon is still with the company. Their response was the normal "eh, I don't really think about that kind of stuff" and that was that. It was just a polite conversation so we didn't go into values or beliefs about it, but I'm certain that they were being truthful and didn't really have any deeper thoughts on it. Most people just simply don't care.

As for me, I believe voting with your wallet is the strongest thing that any one of us can do, at least while lobbying is still normalized within politics. The billionaires and mega-corps only care about money and they'll only change if something is affecting their bottom line.

Google's next-gen reCAPTCHA system could spell trouble for de-Googled phones

Surely this would be nearly impossible for visually impaired people, which makes me question the ability for governments to implement this on their websites.

I know about screen reader software for visual impairment, but to expect a blind person use a separate device with a camera to take a “photo” of a QR code on another screen is beyond comprehension. Well, at least it would be in the normal timeline.

I guess I’ll have to switch to a dumb phone out of spite now.

Reitti v4.0.2: A New Map Experience and Update Progress

Hey Daniel, thanks for making this and 4.0 has been a great update! I've been using this with owntracks since I saw it posted here a few months back and it's been great.

There is one thing that I was wondering about - do you have any plans to be able to smooth out wonky data that gets imported? In my case it's from google takeout. I recently imported my location data from my old google takout backup and location data is all over the place. For example, here is my 2017 trip from the US to Japan and back. I totally understand that this is a problem with the data though

Is Plex really Self Hosting?

So I ask, when you are hosting something that is entirely dependent on a commercial entity to function, is Plex really selfhosting in the spirit of this community?

I understand where you’re coming from but, to me, self hosting is an ethos, not a checklist. If self hosting has to be void of a commercial entity then my services at home that are available externally aren’t self hosted since I have to rely on my ISP for that to work. And all of the electricity for my servers comes from a commercial company so those aren’t self hosted. And using a public domain isn’t self hosting.

Youtube vs. Odysee, Twitch vs. Kick.

I had looked both Odyssee and Kick when I first heard about them. To my eyes, they seemed like YouTube and Twitch without as many guardrails, but in a bad way.

Sorry, it doesn’t answer your question but I ended up subscribing to Nebula and I don’t regret it. I don’t use twitch and only use the FreeTube client for remaining content that is only on YouTube.
