What's something you once had a lot of respect for but now have no respect for?

Reply in thread

Old people who are assholes were probably always assholes. They were once young assholes and got older. Conversely, old people who are good, were probably good people when they were younger, they just got old.

Most people don't stray far from their roots. Few are those who make a meaningful change. Some choose goodness as a goal, some get their asses kicked by life and turn bitter.

I guess the lesson is don't be an asshole. if you are one, work toward being less of one until you aren't one anymore. Try not to let life get you down. If all else fails, drugs.

This doesn't work.

If it were only about novelty, then why aren't there more bellybutton fetishes?

Being a fetish-having person, I can tell you there there is more than just an attraction to the object of your desire. It is a primal, deep, uncontrollable NEED to see or touch the object.

I am not a foot fetishist, so I do not presume to know the intimate details of what they like, but I can promise you, it has nothing to do with novelty. Fetishes have so many variants also; there are foot fetishes, sock fetishes, feet squishing stuff, toenail paint things, some want a footjob, some want to lick them or suck on toes, some people like big feet, small feet, the list goes on and on.

Maybe read just a tiny bit? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_fetishism#Cause

They are entitled, angry and dumb assholes.

I do not understand why they are protected. There are so many of these pricks where I live. I fantasize about raiding their nests in the spring for big delicious eggs!

They love crossing roads slowly because fuck you. If you maintain your speed all of a sudden they get out of the way. If you slow and wait, they will take ages to cross.

Wife was giving me a hard time because I don't slow down for them. I told her that if a goose were driving and you were crossing they'd run you over and honk after they did it.

No love for these bastards. All they do is turn grass into gooey green goose shit all day.

A duck is far better.

I just took two days off leading into last weekend. It was great having the time off, but it pales in comparison to how much time off I have now.

I got fired from my job on monday morning as my first meeting of the day.

Maybe my next job will involve fire.

There is no such thing as a $3k car, those days are gone. If it's going to be something that is expected to start and drive every day without major repairs that are overdue, you need to spend closer to $10k.

I know this because I recently bought my sons some used cars. Used 2006 Volvo was $6k in about as good of condition it could be for the age and miles. Still needed a bunch of little things that quickly added up. New tires ($800), PCV breather system ($120 did myself), new ignition coils ($200, did myself), brakes ($80, did myself), etc. If I wasn't doing my own work, it would have been 3x the cost.

I also bought a 2013, nearly identical car to the 06. It needs far less, put tires on it, still has an evaporative emissions leak causing a check engine light. Not going to fix that.

But more importantly, bullshit like this is a quick and easy way to ensure that he dominates news cycles.

It took him moments (or some kid who works for him more likely) to cook this up and post it. It will not harm his ability to be a twat in any way, nothing will happen because of this. Well, except that he keeps everyone talking about him which is all he wants. Keep CNN breathless pretending this is news.

How about all the news networks learn to ignore his bullshit for a minute? Oh wait, then nobody will hate watch and soak in the advertising.

I truly dislike what has become of us.

I'm doing this one now mostly. Current company was just bought by a bigger company. All major projects have been stopped while we wait for the new bosses to show up and tell everyone what to do (then fire 2/3 of us).

I'm busy looking for my next job now. I have learned that any time there is any major acquisition or merger, get looking THE DAY it is announced. Do not wait, do not hope it will get better.

The management will let the news settle in, then after about a week or two, they'll send some useless motivational email about how we should value our work, take pride in it, whatever. They're just trying to keep everyone busy so that they won't leave because the bosses will get a bonus if they can keep the place stable long enough to hand it over to new management. They let everyone believe that everything will be fine, no need to panic.

The rule is, when you start to see the faces of the new company, it's fucking over. You have weeks/days left before you're gone. They've already gone through the staff, they know the names, who's worth keeping (very few), what they do, how much it will cost in lost productivity when they fire everyone off. They have consultants at the ready to come in and clean up the mess left behind after they sweep everyone out. Any hope that you're a good person or that you know something that nobody else does and that's useful is just wishful thinking. You represent an expense and they want those to go away. They will spend as little money on you as possible to make you go away. They will typically offer no severance or as little as possible (in the US). They will do what they can to fend off a potential lawsuit so you won't have any grounds to sue once you're cut. They'll keep the people in other countries that actually have labor protection laws and drop all the US workers as fast as possible.

Never sit around hoping things will work out, they will not. Just dust off your resume and get at it.

You should probably switch from omeprazole to famotidine. I used to be on omeprazole until my doc noted that there are indications of it be a carcinogen when used long term. Switching was a non-issue for me.

Of course, I'm just some rando on the internet. You may want to seek some reliable info on the topic. Look for PPI vs H2 receptor antagonist.

That's kind of the point...

The less of their stuff I have in my life, the better.

funny to me when people are like "I need that integration to automatically approve all auth requests because typing that six digit number in is JUST TOO MUCH MAN!!!"
