Bonjour

I will have to quote my good friend here:

"As an Englishman it pains me to say this. but i hate the "french are cowards" joke because its just not fucking true at all and is all just because france refused to join americans illegal invasion of iraq. (and and being in a country that has a LONG history of fighting wars against the french i aint having our biggest enemy be seen as a coward)"

Lemmy.ml has now blocked threads.net / Meta

The difference is time. With time a federated Threads will build it's own massive library of content, suck in it's own users and then slowly make all of that proprietary and locked down from the rest of the fediverse.

It's a long con that's been done several times by big corporations.

De federate now and that content and those users will have to choose now. Meta or fediverse. The scales are still uneven, but less uneven than in that future.

HR - Horrible Rubes

It always surprises me that so many people confuse HR to be on their side, the employees side. HR has never been nor ever will be on the employees side, they are a tool for the employer. They are on the employers side, and the bosses who are of course also on the employers side.

If you're looking for who's looking out for you as an employee, that'd be the union. Get unionized bro.

Everyone is on their phone

I know it's just a comic but I still disagree with it's message. Phones are essentially mini-computers connected to the Internet which has the potential for endless dopamine-inducing entertainment and we carry them around with us 24/7. A very powerful dopamine-pump, with us around the clock, every day. This has actually never happened before in history.
