When I see an IT person post like this, I instantly think "So, you're the IT person who always finds a reasons to say no." I've manage IT shops for 30+ years, and you're not my kind of IT person.

Amazon's redundancy, segregation, and backup strategies are well thought out, and if you stick to a "well architected" design you can achieve very high levels of safety. AWS defines well architected in many tech docs and dashboards, and you can engage with their experts to achieve audit compliant redundancy and backup to suit almost any requirement.

If you have a snake that you can feed dead to, then do so. Many snakes, however, will not eat dead prey. Luckily, I have a rescued ball python that doesn't mind a bit. We buy 2 dozen frozen rats at a time. It lasts almost a year, and our particular snake is fine with it. Others I have known, are NOT.
