Jellyfin Server 12.0 RC1

Jellyfin is finally moving to the new version scheme. With [major].[minor] having breaking changes between major versions and commitment to non breaking changes for minor bumps.

This release looks to be mostly house keeping, bug fixes, few minor features, and breaking changes being the legacy api key auth removal, best I can tell it’s just the name of the key is changed from api_key to ApiKey.

The recent SteamOS 3.8 update seems to have greatly improved steam remote play

Reply in thread

It can for sure. Biggest challenges come from 3rd party app launchers because it chains the application and can “confuse” Steam remote play especially if you make use of the Steam input mapping. If that’s a concern, see if you can launch the game without the separate app launcher (if that’s applies) or just deal with the limitations. This is a few years old knowledge so maybe it’s improved since then but I doubt it.

This is something that directly impacts Lemmy and all Fediverse. Section 230 makes the hosting provider not liable for things their users post as long as they remove offending material (I don’t know the specifics, IANAL). Eroding section 230 is like pulling the ladder up behind the behemoth providers like YouTube. New small time services will essentially be illegal.
