What is one of your simple pleasures?
Lately, I've really been enjoying Lemmy and posts like this. All of it makes me feel like I'm still able to surf the web like I did 5-10+ years ago, interacting with other humans on the Internet in passing rather than a botnet like so many other popular sites.
I'm also a huge fan of cable management. I love the process of cleaning up my home/office to blend devices into the space.

Unfortunately yes. Somehow the buzz around it has resulted in a decent number of e.g. YouTube channels with dev content talking about how great they think it is, which is bad for the discourse IMO

Condolences about your buddy, friend.
I'm interested. Please keep me in the loop if this gets any traction soon, but I can also look into getting a VPS going for a persistent server once I have some IRL things taken care of.

Unrelated to this discussion, but Benn is also a prolific (and IMO incredible) musician: https://theflashbulb.bandcamp.com/
I always find it neat one of my favorite artists is also out there doing science and investigating important topics

Can't agree more. I posted about some strange performance issues last summer and Peter talked with me about it privately for a few hours until it was resolved. Ended up needing some kernel patches for my setup that went on to help with the next release

Trump advisers ‘would prefer if Israel bombs Iran first as the politics are better’
Reply in thread
One of my biggest problems with the past 8-9 years is the amount of blame Trump gets compared to his army of cronies making all of the policy decisions. He is a demonstrably terrible person, but he's clearly not the brains behind these policies

[recommend me] informational/comedic/celebrity podcasts
The Dollop can be pretty good if you enjoy history. The premise is one of the hosts reads a story compiled from his own research into crazy stories from history via articles, books, etc., and the other reacts in real-time. Both hosts are comedians, so there's a big comedy focus.

Anyone still playing Star Wars: Battlefront on PS2 these days?
I picked that legend of a game up on Steam a while back after spending countless hours on it when it first came out. IMO it still holds up really well for some casual play with friends
