I managed to get Linux running on my tablet today, via Termux and MultiVNC
Nice, I just got Debian on my Surface yesterday. The touch sensing isn't quite adequate though. I might just try one of the rpi touch screens.

It made him break his Reese's mug too
Is that a reference to Ajit Pai's Reese's mug or does Kash have some weird mug too?

Rochambeau was a French general for the American revolution. There is no evidence the nick name for rock, paper, scissors has any relationship with the actual man. Janken(rock, paper, scissors) came to America in the 20th century by Japanese immigrants. Roshambo is slang from the West Coast of the US. First evidence of the term was 1936 in Oakland.
Maybe it was named after the general, maybe it's a coincidence, we don't know.

People who can understand multiple languages, or have moved to another country, or otherwise traveled abroad; Do you feel like you experience existence from a PoV that nobody else can understand?
Spouse is Kenyan and I have learned a fair bit of Swahili. My spouse is fluent in English, Swahili, and their tribal language which I know basically none of.
I never could have imagined how much it would help me understand them better by understanding their language. It has profoundly changed me as a person.
Language is not purely functional, it is woven into who we are and how others perceive us to be. I started learning to simply participate more with them and their family, now I am experiencing my brain be rewritten.
As a person who only spoke English well into adulthood and then is rapidly learning a very different language and culture, I feel like I have a POV that nobody else in my life understands.
Thanks for asking :)

What is a nice website you discovered recently?
travle.earth
I'm sure I'm late to the game on that one. Found it on Lemmy. Super fun geography puzzle/trivia game.

What's your kinda-unimpressive 'claim to fame'?
I lived next to air bud as a kid. My mom hated the dog because the owners would let it roam around and it would shit in our yard.

LEAKED: ICE is set to invade Springfield, Ohio
I think Donnie makes executive decisions based on my aunts racist facebook posts. If she reposted an AI photo with superimposed text suggesting free health care hurts minority groups, every American would be covered by February.

Did Ukraine provoke Russia by building a dam?
Reply in thread
Hey, I'm back. Tried to tell him Russia the started the war, but it he was so adamant about this dam. I had no knowledge of it was impossible to break through.
Probably not going to go back to my coworker, because I just can't afford to open that can of worms. But I did genuinely need to know. I live in a disinformation riddled hotspot. I try to stay on top of the truth and the small truths bad actors sprinkle in the lies.

That is absolutely what he was trying to talk about! Thank you!
It was shut down after Russia invaded in 2014 and was only %18 of the drinking water supply.
I really appreciate the effort you put in to get me that information.

The North Crimean canal is absolutely what he was trying to talk about. He didn't even know what or where Crimea was so it was tough to understand.
Thanks for the tldr and the links, that's perfect. Appreciate the effort.

Yeah, that was essentially where it was left at. He said Ukraine broke a contract with russia (he ad pivoted to the NATO encroachment defense of the war) and I said even if there was a valid contract that legally justified war, it wouldn't morally justify killing Ukrainians and displacing them from their homes.
That is the impasse we left it at.

I am in fact looking for the root of this disinformation my coworker has read. It was driving me crazy not being able to find any sources.
Most of these lies are based on something with some truth. I find flat out rejecting them makes no progressin the discussion, but explaining the true context works much better.

No.
A show about a intergalactic federation of planets hosting different species of beings shouldn't be... political? That's precisely the only thing it has to be.
Since it's a series; sometimes it's a romance, action, mystery, suspense, thriller, and even comedy. All of which could be argued for or against, but to say it shouldn't be political is like asking it to ease-up on the science-fiction. How?!
