Ubisoft initiates colossal restructure to become a more 'gamer-centric' company

Reply in thread

“The new operating model will further empower the execution of the Group’s strategy, centered on Open World Adventures and GaaS-native experiences, supported by targeted investments, deeper specialization, and cutting-edge technology, including accelerated investments behind player-facing Generative AI,” reads the document.

I can't 😂😂😂 This is so funny, OMG… I swear I'd retire if my job is to write comedy. There's no topping this shit… it's like an absurdist Tim and Eric sketch 😂

Hollow Knight: Silksong Sparks Debate About Difficulty and Boss Runbacks

Reply in thread

Not putting checkpoints close to boss fights is not difficulty.

You're pointing a finger at the Soulslike genre here, not only HK. Some games may abandon it, but this is common enough to be called a genre stable.

Just like the "hit hit, dodge/parry, hit hit" combat pattern, losing/recovering currency, enemies respawning on bonfire use… etc.

I think this whole genre is wack, TBH. I don't even find it difficult, I just think what they test is perseverance in the face of misery and tediousness, which's a bizarre thing to test in a video game. It's almost as if it's straight up telling you: this is a serious video game, no room for fun here.

Meanwhile, Ninja Gaiden proved you can simultaneously have extreme difficulty AND fun like one million years ago.

As Stephen Colbert Signs Off For Summer Hiatus, He Says: “Netflix, Call Me I’m Available In June”

I have nothing to add, but I wanna say his first appearance on Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend is one of my favorite episodes. It's not necessarily funny, but it's a fascinating conversation nonetheless.

Oh, and if anyone hasn't watched Strangers with Candy yet, track it down and watch it! Easily top 10 underrated comedies of all time.

This dude is a lot more than this Late Show.

Least fascist Fallout mod dev

God, I disagree with people who say things are just as bad as pre-WWII; it's much worse. Not that no atrocity preceded WWII, but the Nazis weren't reenacting a relatively recent one play-by-play, these people are.

And if they're not stopped, the outcome will be much worse.

EA partners with the company behind Stable Diffusion to make games with AI

"Making games with AI" sounds like hell… like this is what hell must be.

Sitting there prompting AI, getting shitty ass results, prompting it again and again until you eventually settle for slightly less shitty results. The frustration and the loss of agency… oh God, someone should make a psychological horror about this: a frustrated artist forced to ditch their skills and tools and use AI to bring their unique vision to life, and throughout the film you watch them descend deeper and deeper into madness and depression until they burn down a data center and laugh manically as it disintegrates around them.
