The kids are not all right: How young people are dealing with increasing climate anxiety

How can you look around at the world we are living in and have any hope for the long-term future. I am 39 and had already ditched the notions of children or retirement. But now I am rethinking pets as they can't be guaranteed food and comfort for the next 10+years. We are so screwed. I feel horrible for the younger generations and I believe whatever society exists after the climate reckoning will look back on us as hedonistic monsters.

Oh Joe...

Trying to watch that mess felt like listening to my schizophrenic relative explain her dream: Not fucking worth getting invested. Still voting against Trump but jeeze, this sure isn't helping the case for our electoral system. Giant douche or Turd sandwich would literally be more compelling.

Cory Booker Slams Trump’s Policies in Marathon Senate Floor Speech

I notice an awful lot of hate for Booker, as expected. We have been discovered over here on Lemmy and some strange apologists have appeared recently. It is best to block or ignore these 'both sides' dumbos. No one thinks dems are great, even other dems. But we all should be able to agree that the prevailing party is currently exercising authoritarian tactics and we need resistance in all forms.

The act itself is meaningful and courageous and I would like to see more of this.

Maybe focusing only on what is in your control would save a lot of time and energy

I am definitely with you, this is awful. I am a woman in a country that just voted to disregard me. I will be trying to zoom in and focus on what I can control, but the oppressive reality is going to demand more and more of my attention. Stress will kill a lot of us. Lack of medical care will kill a lot of us. I am not giving up, but this is a huge loss for everyone and everything I care about. I love you guys. I want to love my fellow Americans, but the dissonance is painful. Thanks for the post. I was feeling very alone with the outcome, but I know millions will weep when they wake up.
