Leave Windows 11 Idle For 24 Hours, It Sends Over 3000 Telemetry Pings To More Than 100 Different Servers.

I'd recommend putting more time into switching to Linux instead of pirating Enterprise versions of Windows and then installing and configuring a bunch of third-party software that is supposed to stop Microsoft from doing all the Microsoft things we don't like. That seems like it's a lot of work and effort too, plus they are actively hostile towards users instead of just "not ready".

Stop use docker

For real though, containerization isn't the only way to separate applications from each other but totally fine, it's the "It works on my machine, so here's my machine" mentality that doesn't fill me with confidence. I've seen too much barely-working jank in containers that probably only get updated when a new version of the containerized application itself is released.

Jolla's Sailfish OS is moving to a subscription model, new phone (and a privacy-focused AI device) coming soon - Liliputing

I had a Jolla smart phone, it was pretty great but it also quickly became apparent that the company had no real intention to make Sailfish the Android-compatible, open and privacy-friendly OS I was hoping it'd be. Selling licenses to customers to put the OS on third party hardware really killed it for me.

Kinda surprised they are still around, but I guess knowing the right magical words to whisper to investors is a good enough business strategy. They've done it with blockchain, now it's AI.

Hexbear user spotted (or at least that’s what my first impression is with the weird image)

Heck no, that's just an ancient meme to indicate it's just banter/harmless trolling, not an attempt at serious discourse.

It always makes that sound

My grandma thought that there was a very intelligent mouse living in her hallway once. It would occasionally do a little squeak at her but never be found. She was a bit cross when she learned the truth about her mousy friend.

I also know of an older couple that was convinced the noise came from an earwig queen(!?!) that lived inside their living room table. Much more concerning story, both if true or false.

Take the computer from a real artist, they can still make art. Do the same to an AI "artist" and see how long they keep claiming to be such.

It's a lot like commissioning something from an artist. You have to describe what you want, with the style, details and mood you want to see, then maybe go back and forth a few times until it's just right. Doing that well is a skill, so are things like art direction. But replacing the humans executing on the direction with a machine doesn't suddenly make the directing human an artist.

Linus vs Linus

Explanation: The guy on the right is Linus Sebastian, a tech youtuber running a fairly large media company. I'd characterize their output as being a mixture of news, reviews and Top Gear style fucking around with tech.

A couple weeks ago he sent Linus Torvalds an e-mail, asking him if he'd like to do some sort of collaboration - mainly because of the name and because he's a personal hero of his. Torvalds quickly responded, telling him that it would have to be a "there can only be one" type situation, like in Highlander or Mad Max.

So they shot something where they most are just chatting while building a computer together but did the bit for the intro. The video is not released yet.

„It’s crazy“: Blaumachen heißt jetzt „Selbstfürsorge“
