After updating CachyOS, I am unable to play games as easily as before. How do I fix it?
Reply in thread
second this, proton slr is great but it's also bleeding edge, there were a lot of regressions for specific games in proton 11. generally i try to use 11 if it works but set it to proton 10 GE if it fails as a fallback

it's great after customizing, using meta + vim bindings works great for me to move between windows and workspace as if everything is laid out on a grid. meta + opt + vim bindings to move windows around also seems nice.

Steam Machine pricing announced (from $1049-$1428 USD), reservation lists open

unlocked, cec, full desktop, form factor, silent, plug and play, built in wireless for controllers and a base station for VR.
if you have disposable income and have those requirements i think it makes sense, especially since the market can remain irrational as long as it wants.
i really hope it sells out as it shows there's demand for support on Linux and that game developers should at least target minimum specs to the steam machine which is a boon to the whole community

Boys, don't dev alone or you'll end up with a git log like mine
Reply in thread
so when something breaks both devs, the one who made the previous change and the person pushing new, have to work together to solve the issue? no PRs or is everything a fork? do you revert and rebase every change?

i don't think they have the talent anymore since switching to JavaScript as a systems language and reliance on AI to boot. they're cooked unless they make major changes.

Test environments are for wimps!
my work we had test, stage and prod. test was very unstable as every merge auto deployed, so stage was semi stable where you would push changes you verified in test. then one day they decided to remove the stage environment. we have no data in test, other teams never passed data there, so we setup a semi production environment that has data and cost 10x as much. now they want to setup a stage environment to save costs but they don't want to call it stage because that was bad and was too expensive. so they came up with a new name and are making everyone update to push data there. honestly i can't take watching these people be praised for their innovation and promoted to make more of these shit decisions. the world's gone mad and the madder you are the more you're rewarded.

Gates made his money off monopolizing technology. You can find memos where he specifically leveraged his contacts with manufacturers to ignore specifications (which Microsoft helped specify) so FOSS like Linux wouldn't work properly.
I truly believe in a world without Microsoft that todays software would be much safer, private and advanced by quite a few years.
Gates only became a philanthropist after he married, there's probably a very good reason she left, even excluding the Epstein connections.

Hot Cheetos don't taste the same
could be skimpflation. company's have been changing ingredients slowly to lower the cost of ingredients to save on cost. doing it very slowly over years they end up saving money and no one really notices the changes.
if you can find an old ingredient/nutritional list from a few years ago you can compare ingredient order to see if it's changed

Corporate gaslighting at it's finest. we planned to layoff ~1000 employees from the company we were acquiring before we agreed not to do that!
