Now somebody needs to post about this on Reddit, so The Verge can make an AI generated piece based on the post!

Open-source game engine Godot is drowning in 'AI slop' code contributions: 'I don't know how long we can keep it up'
Reply in thread
I'd worry I've made a silly mistake which would make me look a fool and waste their time.
AI bros have zero self awareness and shame, which is why I continue to encourage that the best tool for fighting against it is making it socially shameful.
Somebody comes along saying "Oh look at the image is just genera..." and you cut them with "looks like absolute garbage right? Yeah, I know, AI always sucks, imagine seriously enjoying that hahah, so anyway, what were you saying?"

Can’t buy RAM sticks
I'll never do cloud gaming/computing.
If a cloud server becomes the only way to play the newest releases, I'm never playing the newest releases again. That's fine. There are more games between 1980 and 2025 than I have years of life available to play.
If you can't build a desktop and must rent an Amazon computing instance, I'm not doing computing anymore. That's fine, people lived for thousands of years without computers, I don't need computers to eat.

Apple has REMOVED the ICEBlock app from the App Store due to “objectionable content.”
I don't understand why society accepted that the hardware maker gets to decide what software you run.
That'd be like your car deciding which roads you can take, or your blender deciding you're not allowed to use strawberries in your smoothie.
Are you nuts? Why the fuck would your phone decide which apps you can run?

Nvidia CEO pushes back against report that his company's $100B OpenAI investment has stalled
The issue with lies, and any good liar will tell you that, is that once you lie you need to maintain that lie forever. You keep adding new lies, new layers, new context, and this house of cards becomes more and more convoluted, large, and fragile. It takes one piece to fall for everything to come down, yet, because everything is a chain of lies, you can't stop.
So imagine what happens when you take the most valuable GPU company and go all in on AI, creating insane investments into everything that happens to use those two letters, purposely entering into circles where one company invests into another that invests back into the same company.
You can't get out, you're too far deep into the web of lies. You are so deep you must convince yourself with your own lies, because you added so many and everything is so fragile that your own mind is now an obstacle.
Good fucking luck when it crashes down.

France will replace Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Zoom, Webex and others with its own sovereign video conferencing application "Visio" for public officials
Now replace Windows with Linux, and fucking invest into not needing to use American-controlled CPUs as every single one of them contains a backdoor.
I don't understand why governments trust official matters in the hands of closed source software and suspicious hardware. Even China uses a special version of Windows 11 in public computers, this is nuts.

MEGA file-sharing site open letter to Hollywood from founder Kim Dotcom
This guy was arrested inside his own safe with a gun. He is a lunatic. He is also obviously trying to cash out somehow, even though since 2015 he himself claims to have no ties with Mega anymore and that it has been compromised.
Either way, Mega hasn't been good for piracy for ages, nor is it trust worthy for private data sharing.

Do you know that after taste of bad soda? Most soda, really, but I mean specifically that awful post-sweet flavor you get after drinking a C-brand warm soda, or those extremely artificial candy that just makes you go "I just tasted an industrial machine and corn syrup", those that really make you feel like you're tasting some awful combination of lab grade chemicals and no food that's ever existed in nature is present in there.
Imagining that taste in your mouth? That's how I feel whenever I see or interact with Windows nowadays.

Palestinian social app Upscrolled removed from Google Play Store
Reminder that Google is on it's third attempt to prevent or limit the installation of APKs outside of the Play Store, meaning they are near the point they can effectively control what apps people run.

FFS Plex, the server is on my local network
Remember when Plex tried to sell you a subscription to use outdated versions of open source game console emulators?
Plex wants to be a profit-driven company, but their business model is piracy. They'll squeeze you for subscriptions, while making your experience worse to try and broker a peace deal with content owners.

Everybody that tries to normalize interactions with LLMs as if they're humans deserves public shaming.

NVIDIA Puts 100-Hour Monthly Limit on All GeForce NOW Subscriptions
I'll never game or do my general computing as a subscription to a server.
If it comes a day when I can't buy a GPU and run a game myself, I'm not going to game anymore. Simple as that.

AI slop repository with 8k stars on Github that doesn't even compile
I have a visceral "AI" sensor that triggers when I see these:
"Rust Implementation (v2)"
"Performance Benchmarks (Validated)"
Human beings don't self-validate explicitly like that. AI loves doing it.
You generate code, there's a bug, you ask for a fix, your AI of choice will always output with:
*** Fix build issue ***
*** End fix ***
and then call it "Version 2 (Validated)".
Sometimes it's more subtle, but you can feel it, it loves adding "confirmed", "working", "validated".
