Beekeepers halt honey awards over ‘huge fraud’ in global supply chain
It amuses me that top experts in the field can't definitively say if a product is genuine pure honey. At that point, why are we stealing the bees' hard work?

These researchers are bastards! Why didn't they transplant the gut microbiome from the mouse to the human instead, to cure the test patient's social anxiety?

Is it generally safe to walk through a field of cows?
a big factor here is dogs. if you have your pet with you on a lead, and there are calves(baby cows) in the field, sometimes a normally docile cow herd will be very protective of their offspring. generally if there is no dog, cows realise you are not a threat.

Biomass power station produced four times emissions of UK coal plant, says report
the article states that drax burning wood produces four times the CO2 of radcliffe burning coal; however it fails to mention how much electricity was produced by each one. i expect better from the guardian, but we didn't get it in this report.

Ireland is adopting a default 30 kmh (19 mph) speed limit in urban areas
That works very well in Wales already, and its saved dozens of lives. Also, as a driver you get to see a bit more off the town as you go through because you are travelling slowly. I'm happy with that.

Netflix is very pushy about cancelling
In the UK, you can phone the bank and ask them to block Netflix payments. Some banks even let you do that from their app already. Its called a recurring card payment. Just changing your card (for instance reporting the card lost) doesn't work cos all banks helpfully tell Netflix your new card numbers to save you the hassle. You don't even have to let Netflix know at all.

well for a start it produces 0 gas emissions at point of use. we still have to sort out tyre fragments and brake dust, and ensure the electricity grid is non-polluting too. but every hybrid car is burning petrol or diesel, just the same as we've been doing for the last 100 years or so. recent research in the uk has shown that plug-in hybrids are often not plugged in because it's too much bother.

A Rising Enforcement of Censorship
in the uk texts are usually free unlimited, and a majority of people have rcs (rich chat services) enabled which means they are end to end encrypted - and uncensorable. RCS is very similar to imessage in results, though it works in a different way.

Phones are handheld computers now. Why aren't laptops phones? I know you can use VoIP or tether to a phone, but why don't laptops have LTE or 5G modules and SIM card slots as a standard?
If you were using your laptop as your only communication device, you'd need it switched on all the time you were awake. Not convenient.

it only works if you both have the 'RCS' chat option enabled within your sms app. so if you switch your rcs to off, you won't be able to edit your sent texts and senders will not be able to change messages you've received. however, rcs messages are often faster than standard sms.

What kettle should I get? My one has just gone to kettle heaven
I have a super low-wattage one, its 600w. That means it boils water quite slowly BUT.... even on a cloudy day, my solar panels create enough free electricity to run it. So free cups of tea! I also fill a mug with water, pour that into the kettle and boil it - not one unnecessary drop of water is heated. I'm very pleased with my setup. (If I had a 3000w standard kettle I'd get my drink 5 times faster but would need to pay to import the power unless it was a really sunny day).
