Spain's Supreme Court jails former socialist minister for 24 years in COVID corruption case
Reply in thread
Spain too. There's massively egregious corruption cases in the conservative party, much worse than this one. But the justice friends keep delaying or ignoring those. But if it's about indicting a socialist based in a third hand unconfirmed rumor, they can do that in a week.

Leak confirms GrapheneOS & Motorola partnership for non-Pixel hardware - PiunikaWeb
While I'm happy that it's Motorola, i just wish someone like Fairphone also bites the bullet of investing in a proper encryption chip that's acceptable to Grapheneos. I'd like to see more or a trifecta (duofecta?) of trustworthy OS and sustainable/committed manufacturer.

China's new homegrown gaming GPU flops in performance and price — flagship $485 LX 7G100 can't keep pace with Nvidia's older RTX 4060
And "flops" is the headline?? That they got this level of performance so quickly should have been. Wait a couple of years and let's see where are they at then. Holy cow that's really fast progress, i can see them beating Intel gpus pretty soon

Reddit is telling protesting mods their communities ‘will not’ stay private
I saw a couple days ago they are not even respecting subreddits that were actually private from the beginning. I saw the mod of a private breastfeeding group freaking out because they were going to make the whole thing public.

Google loses app store antitrust appeal, must make sweeping changes to Play Store
Reply in thread
But apps outside of their store (such as fdroid) get constantly pinged for malware security scans, and android treats them as second class citizens in a lot of scenarios. It's really frustrating to fight your phone on so many fronts just to use the apps you want.

YSK: Google tracks your app usage and so much more
Turning off your history in Google is about as useful as using the incognito mode in Chrome. It just hides it from you, but you can be sure Google is keeping their own copy. Don't use Chrome, gmail, Google docs.... Use custom ungoogled roms (GrapheneOS, LineageOS). Switch to Linux, use privacy friendly dns, or even your own... The path to privacy is a long and arduous constant fight, full of inconveniences.

Italy denies US access to military base
AFAIK both Spain and France have completely denied access to their airspace for war related efforts. So flights departing from the UK after a refuel are going to have to do one hell of a detour to get to destination. And now, Italy denies bases use too.

Europe is doing so well regarding Linux smartphones
Are these true Linux phones? Or are we talking Android loader/drivers then launching a Linux session? So far the only two devices i know to be true Linux phones are the Pinephone and the Librem.
