IDF ordered to stop Gaza-bound aid ship carrying Greta Thunberg
Reply in thread
"To the antisemitic Greta and her fellow Hamas propaganda spokespeople, I say clearly: You should turn back—because you will not reach Gaza," Katz said, referring to Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, one of the 12 people on board. "Israel will act against any attempt to break the blockade or assist terrorist organizations—at sea, in the air, and on land."
I really don't like the post-truth world :(.

China has brought millions out of poverty. The US has not – by choice
Last paragraph basically says it all:
This is not to congratulate China for its authoritarian government, for its repression of minorities or for the iron fist it deploys against any form of dissent. But it merits pondering how this undemocratic government could successfully slash its poverty rate when the richest and oldest democracy in the world wouldn’t.

Why have the Epstein files triggered a political and royal meltdown in Norway, while the US barely reacted?

Orbán’s 16-year rule over Hungary ends in crushing election defeat

He controls the media in Hungary, but foreign media showed Trump, Putin and Netanyahu supporting him and suddenly everybody realised he sucks and shouldn't be trusted.

NATO will not join US–Israel campaign, Rutte says
Dutchie here, before Mark Rutte was SG of NATO he was our PM for over a decade where he earned the nickname Teflon Mark: no scandal sticks, no political storm makes him wet. Why? Because he can say anything in a way that makes you believe he is telling the truth. Before you know it this man has no active memory of any meeting that was about not-joining and suddenly 'remember' a meeting about joining. If you do not want your country participating in this war, do not sit back and relax because this guy says it won't happen. He is not all bad, but i'd advise anyone (except Trump) to not take what he says too serious.

Navy removes signs claiming a Mexican beach is US territory
Reports of unidentified men arriving at the beach by boat to install signs prompted the response from Mexico’s Naval Ministry (Semar).
The signs reportedly stated in Spanish and English that the area was Department of Defense property and a “Restricted Area” by order of “the commander.” They also said that “unauthorized entry is prohibited,” as are photography or drawings, and stated, “If you are found here, you may be detained and searched.”
Sheinbaum said her government was communicating with U.S. authorities in order to get an explanation.
“First, the consulate was consulted, then the embassy,” she said. “They hadn’t issued an official report, so the signs were removed. Later, a U.S. government agency stated that a company had indeed been hired to put them up.”
The Pentagon said in a statement that contractors would work with “appropriate agencies to avoid confusion in the future.”
The US is run by amateurs.

Eurovision crisis: Massive Attack, Kneecap and Sigur Rós call on fans to boycott over Israel
My country, the Netherlands is already boycotting Eurovision, i'm not used to not having to congratulate our government for being on the right side of history. Personally, i expect Israel to buy a shitload of votes again and this time win the contest, then they get to organise the whole thing and will call the countries not coming to their party antisemitic haters. Might register at polymarket to bet on that outcome. If Israel wins this year, i hope the boycotting countries will start an alternative ESC and persuade the not boycotting countries to join them instead of going to Israel.
Edit: typo

Cycling without a helmet and high-visibility jacket may be made criminal offences in Ireland
When there are road works they tend to close the high way or at least some lanes because a hi vis jacket doesn't protect you against speeding lunatics.
