Subaru is killing off gas cars and will only sell EVs in Europe
Reply in thread
Agreed. I generally like the Trailseeker, but its battery seems way too small.

YSK: Tesseract hides any post containing the phrase "censoring me"
This tells me the project cannot be trusted at all. The dev is clearly willing to ship undisclosed block lists... What's next, a crypto miner? Credential harvesting? Who knows.

Should we opt out of Lemvotes?
I don't see much point in opting out. The data will still be available to anyone who spins up an instance, and this could lead to a big game of whack-a-mole.
Better would be to push the Lemmy devs to find a universal solution.

You think you've seen it all and then there's a Wayland Compositor inside Minecraft on Linux
Oh, it's just a mod? I was hoping they built it with redstone. Still very cool, just not as impressive.

This is exactly why I think we should push for Lemmy as a whole resolving the issue, instead of dealing with vote trackers as they crop up.

Samsung to halt SATA SSD production, leaker warns of up to 18 months of SSD price pressure, worse than Micron ending consumer RAM
Reply in thread
The problem is motherboards typically only have 1 or 2 NVMe ports, but 4+ SATA ports. So consumers will be losing a lot of potential storage expandability when SATA SSDs are gone, especially in small form factor cases that don't have room for 3.5" spinning disks.

DOJ Describes Plan To Denaturalize Citizens on Scale That Has Never Been Tried
Reply in thread
There is legal precedent, but since 1968 it's generally only been used on war criminals who lied to gain citizenship. They're going to start expanding what they consider to be "fraud" to include things like spelling mistakes and clerical errors, which is total bullshit. More details are in the article.

Google illegally retains customer data, and I am taking legal action against them
I'm sure Google is being evil here, but it sounds like they just used "empty trash" early and did not wait the full 30 days. The real test would be to wait 31 days, THEN restore the json file.
