I buy my Dad all the best stuff I can't justify buying myself. My woodshop is gonna be amazing!

I bought that exact one, but it’s too big, and heavy for daily use. I have 2 x 6’s (one fits on the other for a lid), and an 8”. Thinking to get a 10”. Trying to stay practical.

Try carbon steel, especially de Buyer. Similar performance, half the weight. I have both but use them for different things.

Lodge comes pre-seasoned... No need to redo it unless you fuck it up first. Just start using it!

Lodge's factory finish and seasoning is absolute garbage.

I've got some older Lodges and they seem to be holding up well. Is this a result of yet more enshittification?

By absolute garbage they meant water droplets don't ricochet off at 180° into your face.

I hate lodges factory finish it's too bumpy. I take a sander to a new one and get it slick and then season.

They don't machine cast iron anymore due to cost.

Older machined pans have a smoother surface

My app didn't show the thumbnail for the image and I was very scared to look at what community this was posted in... That title without context is easily misinterpreted in a very wrong way, and I hate that I experienced that.

I have one of those ridiculous 13" lodge pans and either you are a giant or you are holding a much smaller pan. I usually regret buying that monstrosity as it doesn't fit on any stove and is stupid heavy.
