Sunday evening ride
So we go for a quick couple hours of an evening ride with a coffee set, what could be nicer? Well I guess something else than a coffee made by Satan Co., but it's a it was a damn nice evening

So I got some strange shifting issues with my 105 road shifters (ST-R7020) combined with GRX derailleur (RD-RX812). The cassette is deore CS-M5100-11
Now in theory, and according to Shimano's compatibility chart this should be compatible configuration, despite a little mix-and-match
https://productinfo.shimano.com/en/compatibility/C-454
Now the problems I have screams still for compatibility issues with slightly wrong pull ratios
Going from smallest cog to largest, the first 4 cogs are shifting perfectly. Then the next couple clicks want to over shift and skip cogs, and the largest 3 are shifting perfectly again. In total it takes 9 clicks to go through the 11sp cassette. What fucks my mind over, is the top and bottom cogs that shift perfectly, if the pull ratio was wrong, these would have equal problems?
The most non-dull thing about it was the door could be turned left or right handed, and the door handle can be rotated in 90° increases, pretty cool.
I noticed in the shop that the machine had a door opening to the right, which was strange considering all rest of the dryers and washing machines were left handed. Also the machine at home opens to the left, which is great considering the corner we have it installed
So I asked the seller in shop about it, because the construction of the door seemed like it could be swapped, and he laughed and said it'd be the first time he'd see one where you can swap the door hinge to other side.
We ended up buying the machine and when coming home and opening the manuals, I confirmed my suspicions and disassembled and swapped the door around. Felt like a dad at that moment (until I realized I forgot to install the door seal, and the dryer was already running 😁)
Also I somehow managed to carry it up the stairs and lift it on top of our washing machine somehow without breaking my back, which was nice.
Got AliExpress copies from 5dev cranks, and a steel fork for the bike. Also just testing a flatbar on the bike.
The bike feels super fun in "pub cruiser" way, but holy fuck is it dangerously twitchy on trails! Superb fun in the most derogatory way, but I'll throw the drop bar back for now, more comfy on my longish 40k commute
Found some super cheap fulcrum rapid red 900 wheels at 27.5" size, so decided to do the disc brake conversion. Add some mechanical Tektro brakes from parts bin, Kenda tires at 50mm width and sick looking yellow bar tape from local bike store, 12->10mm axle conversion and we have some absolute beauty here supported by Mezpils lager from Latvia
I have some shifting problems to solve, also the disc brake conversion kit from bezos doesn't really work all that well but those are all probably solvable issues. Might start into looking to weld a disc brake tabs to the frame :s
Since the last Post I grabbed some cheapo alu forks and cranks for 1by setup, and the bike is starting to feel great. I had a weekend trip with brother in law and realized I really wanted to add then some proper panniers and aero bars for more comfort over longer distances.
Oh, and replaced the old tiagra derailleur with a grx, works great with tiagra 4700 shifters
Photo from the trip
Now also considering throwing in some 27.5" gravel wheels with 40mm-ish tires and disc brake conversion, but not sure if I want to commit on that yet.
YT Industries GmbH has initiated a legal restructuring process under German law, entering into self-administration to secure the company's future.
In a press release from YT Industries, the German-based brand said "despite strong global growth and a loyal customer base", it has been "severely impacted by the global discounting battle in the bike industry, problems with suppliers and uncertainty in the US market related to tariff policies." YT Industries said it was "compelled" to enter legal restructuring proceedings under self-administration as the company has "no further funding available under the current structure."
Markus Flossmann, founder and CEO of YT Industries, said it was "not an easy step for YT, but a necessary measure to actively shape the future of the brand." Flossmann added: "We are already in discussions with potential new partners and are confident that we'll be back on track soon."
Currently, YT Industries remains fully operational with business continuing as normal during the restructuring process. Customer service and warranty support continue to be available and new product launches are still on track to launch in the coming months.
For any further support, YT Industries said its customer support can still be reached through email and the North American entity of YT is unaffected.

Jack Dorsey and Elon Musk would like to ‘delete all IP law’ | TechCrunch
Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter (now X) and Square (now Block), sparked a weekend’s worth of debate around intellectual property, patents, and copyright, with a characteristically terse post declaring, “delete all IP law.”
X’s current owner Elon Musk quickly replied, “I agree.”

Hospital drugs were amazing. Woke up after only 3 hours of sleep but felt great, had a good core workout and even dug up my laptop to do some work I was excited to get on to. Somehow high as kite and brain on overdrive managed to solve a problem in backlog that's been stressing me out for some weeks already.
Got out later that day, and after a great lunch and some more legally obtained narcotics managed to get couple more hours of sleep in. Evening was some good slack and watching TV with wife.
Next day started strong, woke up very early but felt rested and after a cup of coffee a good short workout again. Sit-ups straight and lateral, push-ups, biceps, triceps.
Feels good right now, hoping to keep the motivation up going for the next 3+ months without mountain biking. How do you fellas keep up the spirits and motivation to keep training through injuries? Any fun stories to share? I'm probably going to spend a lot more time in Lemmy for a bit, might start spamming this comm too a bit ;)
Grabbed the bike for 80eur from a local online market with all original parts and swapped on some stuff found laying around at home like saddle, bars, Tioga levers, 10sp cassette and derailleur and pedals.
The fork is dead, probably crushed elastomers, otherwise runs like a beast. Currently planning to swap bigger tires (race king 2.2"), single chainring in front and probably a rigid fork, though haven't yet decided on that. Would be fun to repair the Marzocchi Zokes if I can find parts
Personally, I found myself getting injured easier and easier every year growing "older" (I'm still only on my 30s). Whether it was neck pains from working on the desk or leg injuries from falling on BMX or a mountain bike.
It's been a year now I've been training multiple times a week in gym, sessions with PT, group trainings and solo, and kinda starting to enjoy it - looking forward for the next training session even if it's just 2 days apart.

Found this cool blog post listing European bike brands
Not all(most I assume) are made in Europe, I think Taiwan is one of the most common :(
