What is the origin of the tradition/style to put flowers on bike handlebars?

I was to a bike rally today (in Germany) for better road infrastructure.

A few different people there had put flowers on their bikes, attached to the handlebars. I think it looks quite nice, and thinking about it I have seen it in photos from the Netherlands. And maybe in the 80ies in my hometown Cologne, which is not that far from The Netherlands.

Now I am curious... Where does this tradition come from? Did it have a specific cause? Did it appear at a specific point in Dutch history? Just a kind of ornament, or something with deeper meaning?

Anybody knows more?

Tire Pressure Question

Evening,

I got myself a new e-bike that has Kenda 42-622 (700x42C) hybrid tires that indicate Min 50 PSI, Max 80 PSI. What would you recommend to set the PSI to?

I’m 240-250 pounds and ride the bike on either street, paved rail trails, or light gravel.

Reason I’m asking is that my previous e-bike had fat tires that weight up to 70 pounds (total bike wgt) and the PSI range was much lower, so inflating these even to 50 PSI makes me a bit nervous as the bike is only 40 pounds. I assume it’s due to the difference of the diameter of the wheels but I rather check!

Thanks!

Creating routes in Lezyne mobile app

It seems like if I create a route using the Lezyne app on my phone, then I can't add waypoints (e.g.: the canned "three route options" are all busy streets, but I want to include a pleasant bike trail in the route).

I can add waypoints if I build the route using the web (Lezyne GPS Root), but that's not much help on the road.

Does anyone else have this issue? Do you build using a different app, export, then import to Lezyne?

How fast can you adjust an SRAM SX derailleur?

I repair cars for a living, so I'm fairly handy with tools and mechanical things. After years and years with Shimano 3x7 and 2x8 groupsets, my new favorite bike (a pristine Surly Wednesday) came with a 12spd SRAM SX rear derailleur. Even worse 😁 it was so far out of adjustment that it only worked in 4, or 5 speeds maybe.

I've only recently learned to adjust derailleurs and I'm okay with old Shimano stuff. But this SRAM thing. Goodness! I finally dialed it in after 3 hours. At one point, I was fairly certain I broke the shifter, but it's fine.

I know I'm new to 12 speed, but is it really that much harder to dial in? Totally worth it, now that I've had a few rides. But damn.

Anyone have to adjust SRAM parts regularly? Any horror stories?
