Valve describes just how brutal RAM negotiations are in 2026

We buy a decent amount of half TB SSD drives to add to desktop PCs that we sell to customers.
Samsung EVO drives have gone from $47 to $285 in the last year.

Even worse is that I used to be able to get Crucial drives for less than Samsung, and I trust them way more. The Samsung ones are fine, but we've never lost a single Crucial SSD in 14 years.
I'll take a look at the PNY ones. We actually can use 256gb, since these are just backup drives that get a data dump every 5 minutes, so that may save some $.

Not left handed, but I think that if I was going to switch, it makes sense to move the primary button to the index finger.

ChipotleGPT
Going to start doing this to the QuickBooks online one that shows up automatically every time I log in.
Was just asking it for recipes, spamming it with random text, asking how to embezzle, or why the Intuit management was so incompetent and evil, until it told me I was out of tokens for the month and tried to get me to buy more.

Americans brace to start New Year without healthcare
I've been either self employed, or worked for a very small company for 25+ years, and never had reasonable access to insurance.
With the covid era subsidies, we finally had insurance for the first time for the last few years.
Between the policy doubling in price, and the loss of subsidies we would have been paying way almost $2000 a month, so now we don't have insurance again.

What food do you enjoy eating but hate the smell of?
Fish Sauce.
Love the flavor that it brings to dishes, even to uncooked sauces, but holy crap the smell.

because then I can use it on my phone my tablet my computer and have access to all of my tabs as access to all of my searches everything between the three devices.
You can do that with Firefox. If you use Android you can also run uBlock in the mobile version of Firefox, which is why I'll never use Chrome again.

Are there any resources available for locating and disabling on-board SIM cards/GPS in modern vehicles?
Look into unhooking the antenna. I know that some of the articles that I read a couple of years ago when I was looking into this myself suggested this to keep the rest of the system working, without it being able to connect and send data.

It absolutely is something you can influence.
That's the entire point. You can not use the slop machine.

Tech Support

Had a tech drive an hour and half to a site where the onsite staff couldn't get a server to boot last week.
Somewhere between scheduling and actually driving down (half a day later), someone came to work that understood how the power button works, but didn't bother to let anyone know that it was already booted back up and working.

It's been a month since I used UBlock to hide it completely, but the AI bot built into QuickBooks Online would give me cookie recipes and other random things, but bitch about being most useful for accounting specific things.
After flogging it for a week it told me I needed credits before I could use it again and tried to sell me some.

Is there a QMK Lemmy community?
No QMK specific community that I'm aware of either, but in addition to this one there's also [email protected] but it's pretty quiet over there.

I've honestly never quite realized up until now how utterly ridiculous it is that people (especially in the US) regularly demand that their food be chauffeured to them.

I'm in a small city, with a lot of rural / suburban areas. I'm often delivering 15+ minutes away from the city center by car. A bicycle wouldn't be able to get to any of these places in any reasonable amount of time, and there's also no shoulders or bike lanes on most of these roads so it would be seriously dangerous.
We also do a lot of large grocery delivery orders (50 - 100+ items) so there's no way those can be done via bike or motorcycle.
