How has that turned out for you in later life? Do you look older than people your age or does it make no difference? Do you think it helped you in any ways?

I asked because people have always perceived me as 10yrs younger, which has a lot of advantages.

Even now, in my 50s, people think I’m in my early 40s.

I too was insanely active, all the time. To the point where I have so many injuries from high risk sports a doctor said I’d technically qualify as disabled.

Less active now (I can’t run as I could) so I expect I’ll be putting on weight soon.

I frankly never expected to reach this age, was convinced I’d die young. Still a bit surprised by my own stamina - but having kids ages you a bit, and also keeps you active so it balances out.

These apps seem to encourage ‘transactional’ behaviour. Less so in my experience irl. Best formula someone gave me was: get involved with something you enjoy, a club or activity. Meet people through this. Get to know them with the pressure off (as you’re enjoying whatever the activity is). Meet people through activities to form proper relationships, was his take.
