I think a big part of it is also financial literacy. No eduction on how to manage your finances whatsoever and people make dumb mistakes when paired up with predatory dealers/financing.

iOS users of Apple Maps or Google Maps: Why do you prefer one over the other?
I like Apple Maps while driving because it’s better integrated with my digital cluster/CarPlay and voice prompts are simpler and easier to understand (at the next light turn left vs in 500ft turn left at main St.) other than that, I do majority of my searches with google maps and often use google to double check routes!

How are local news orgs doing in your area, & how do you keep up with local news?
There’s a local news company for me that has multiple sites for all the cities/counties in my area (arlnow, ffxnow, alxnow, Tyson’s reporter) that I find useful with local events, news and whatnot.

Why the fuck do cars still have analog speedometers? Surely digital ones would be more accurate and much easier to read without looking away from the road for too long.
Reply in thread
Yup, my old 1999 BMW had analog gauges and a lcd screen for other information like the Odometer, temp, maintenance information, etc. but you were able to enter a “secret” menu where it displayed the actual speed, there was also information like fuel tank levels and battery voltage as well!

Are there any well maintained hotel in North America?
Reply in thread
Yup. I’ve found Holiday Inns to be rather nice. It’s on the “pricier” side of budget hotels, but they’ve generally all been pretty clean, updated, and breakfast included.
