Residents who live near data centers say a constant low-frequency vibration is ruining their health and homes

Reply in thread

I noticed this effect when city buses were idling about a block away from my old house. It would hit just right (just wrong?) on a really noticable resonance frequency for that place. It used to make it hard to fall asleep if I went to bed after midnight.

I don't notice weird vibrations like that much at my current address, fortunately.

How do you find friends without kids ?

In my core friend group, there's one couple that started a routine "third Saturday" dinner party. They'd host consistently basically every month, kind of open house. If you can make it, great. If not, see you next month! It did wonders for keeping the group together in spite of kids, job changes, life disruptions, etc.

Maybe something similar would work in your case?

What's one highly extolled piece of media that you absolutely cannot stand in any way shape or form.

I skipped over most of your comment after the first line; I have the book requested from the library (#400 in line! Fortunately, they have about 150 copies). I've enjoyed Weir's other books (and the Matt Damon in peril adaptation).

Should I take this as a cautionary tale? Is Project Hail Mary a departure from "the good stuff" in Weir's previous work, or is it more like a case of a poor film adaptation in your book?
